Lemon Erasers…

Daily writing prompt
Write about your most epic baking or cooking fail.

I want to say that this was my most epic fail, though in truth, I’m certain that there were far greater culinary catastrophes in my history… I simply chose an easy one to write about.

I’m not even sure how I managed to do it, but on a particular evening with my Chica, we got the craving for a dessert of some kind. Looking in her cupboards for available ingredients, along with a DIY Pinterest recipe, I confidently tackled what I thought to be a very simple recipe… thought being the operative word here!

I swear that I followed the directions, along with using the proper ingredients and measurements, but by the time they’d been properly cooled and neatly sliced into perfect squares… it was like biting into a rubber eraser that had been flavored with lemon, no joke!

Needless to say… they were totally inedible! Even the dogs turned their noses up at the chance for a human snack.

I’ve made some virtual Lemon Bars for our daily cookies, but this time they should be much better… just flick off the parts you don’t want.

Push Me Pull Me…

There will be those days where one simply feels pulled in too many directions.

When this occurs, one can walk forward in faith… even when the body cannot see what lay ahead.

Let the spirit lead you forward, even if you feel like you are going backwards.

Why?

Trust in Him and trust the process…

Hard Learned…

Daily writing prompt
Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.

I can let go of, move on from, or overcome the absence of a myriad of things that this world offers… all of it!

The lesson that I wish I’d understood much earlier in my lifetime, is that what I cannot let go of, move on from or overcome any absence of, is God!

Just sayin…

Here, have a cookie…

Who’s Your Builder…

It’s Sunday and I’m spending it with my Maker, so the day calls for singing, reading scripture, and definitely some fellowshipping to top things off!

Along the line of singing, I happened to hear a worship song while walking this morning… and now it’s stuck in my head! Sooooo, it seemed like a fantastic idea to get it stuck in yours, as well.

You’re Welcome…

Not only do I wish for you to get a beautiful worship song repeatedly rolling off your tongues for the rest of the day, but thought you might also want to read along with me through one of the Psalms…

Psalm 57, to be exact!

Well, so far you’ve shared some worship music, some scripture, and now it’s the fellowship part… virtual style!

We need some good coffees and teas,

I brought in a Barista to serve everyone, though he wasn’t very enthusiastic about having to wear the hat. No worries though, as he still makes a great cup of coffee!

Help yourself to the breakfast treats…

There’s plenty for all!

God Bless!

Flavors by Feel…

Daily writing prompt
What are your favorite types of foods?

Forget wondering if my answer will be different than last years answer to this prompt question… my answer can change from one day to the next, depending on how I feel.

I have go to favorites for when I feel sad, or lonely.

I have my list of comfort foods for the dreary days.

I have a short list of terribly unhealthy junk food choices, for game days.

See what I mean…

Bottom line is that I love food, and aside from the list of definite no no’s for my health issues, I have a pretty broad palette of tastes.

I love me some good ole soups and stews with either homemade bread or rolls.

If I get my choice of toppings, I can make a pretty large dent in a pizza!

I can be extravagant in my tastes, but also, sometimes nothing says happy like a plain and simple pb n j, if you know what I mean.

Just think of me as Templeton the rat, from Charlotte’s Web, because when it comes to noshing on good eats, all I can say is…

Food, Glorious Food!

Speaking of glorious, these cookies should fit the bill…

Wave Rider…

Thru fierce storms and forceful winds

Ride on…

Thru swells of uphill battles

Ride on…

Though the rain burns your skin

Ride on…

When the waves pummel the sides of your vessel

Ride on…

The ship you sail has a mighty Captain

so Ride on…

He steers directly through the eye of each storm

so Ride on…

Your vessel’s timbers are bound together by faith

so Ride on…

Wind cannot overpower and no fire can destroy

so Ride on…

You may feel the fire’s heat

You may taste the salt from the waves

Your ears may hurt from the roar of thunder

You may feel the sting of the wind slapping your face

But,

The captain you sail with knows His ship

and He knows you…

Because of His unfailing love and guidance

You have the power to Ride on…

I Finally Stopped Running…

Daily writing prompt
How often do you walk or run?

As I answered the question last year from an actual exercise point of view, I chose to think of the question metaphorically, if you will.

I spent most of my considerable years running…

Running from trauma, hurt, pain, rejection, judgement and unforgiveness from others. I choose not to do that any longer!

Instead, I now choose to walk forward, one day at a time!

So, in answer to the prompt… I walk every day.

But, I also make my friends cookies each morning.

Not that I’m trying to tell you how to eat a cookie or anything, but if you nibble on the toe’s first… the rest of the foot tastes better!

My Barnyard Bubbles Over…

I was greeted by bubbles when I walked into the barn this morning…. everywhere!

Apparently, the babes wanted to wash all the blankets for me, as a special surprise. I’ve been busily setting up the classroom and organizing all of our school supplies, and I guess the babes wanted to help.

I can’t really complain though… it smells wonderful in my office!

You might even say that it was a double bonus for me, as the babes were all in great need of a good scrub behind their ears. I made rather short work of grabbing a washrag and giving them each a quick once over.

It’s clear that all are fully ready for classes to begin…

It’s Me, Not You…

Daily writing prompt
Do you see yourself as a leader?

I would make a horrible leader! I am over 50 and pretty grumpy… not what you want in a leader! I will be the first one to tell you that you are being an idiot, whether you actually are or not!

Too many years of watching folks make the same choices, while expecting a different outcome, has made me a bit jaded.

Before you start thinking I’m pointing fingers, don’t! Where do you think I learned to recognize stupidity and ignorance? Still seeing it in my day to day, so I’ve apparently got a ways to go before fully learning all my lessons. For that reason, I decline the position of leader… cause somebody might get hurt!

Just sayin…

Aren’t you glad I opted to be like the lunch lady and offer you cookies every morning?

Thursday Thoughts…

Here’s a first! I don’t really have any words to write, just now.

Instead, I’ve chosen scripture to share with you this morning. Sometimes it says that which I cannot!

“Record my lament; list my tears on your scroll– are they not in your record? Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me. In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise– in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? I am under vows to you, O God; I will present my thank offerings to you. For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.” Psalm 56: 8 – 13
