While I’m not one to regularly watch the Olympics, I would not be averse to watching any of their Equestrian events. Any of the Hunter/Jumper type events are always successful in getting my heart rate beating faster! If you’ve never cleared a bale of hay, astride your favorite horse, you haven’t lived!
I was riding horses before I left diapers, beginning as only a chubby little passenger. By the time I was 18, I could barrel race, jump and vault off a horses back! My spine is the truthteller, of how hard I rode and played upon the back of those enormous creatures. Spinal surgery in my mid 20’s ended my days of wild adventures. I now placate myself with watching others do what I too, once did! It’s enough, for me, to keep the memories of those riding days fresh in my mind.
I’ve enjoyed watching some of the ice skating, and some of the other winter sporting events, but not enough to write home about!
Here, have a cookie…

I forgot about the equestrian events. Do they still do dressage competition in the Olympics? That is so beautiful!

You know, I’m actually not sure. I haven’t watched regular television in so long…

Horse Sense! There have been a number of times when I attempted to bond enough with horses, to enjoy a trail ride or two.
The trouble is I don’t think these animals care much for me. I have been thrown forward over ones head. My thigh has been opened up on a barbedwire fence. Knee had a nice L shaped gash from being side stepped into a hay wagon. Dragged for a couple hundred feet, right smack in the middle of a forest. All while enjoying my bonding experiences.
Still there was a time when I rode a horse that must have been about 100 years old. He treated me well. One other time when I was learning to be a sulkey driver for standardbreds. That was cool.
While I love them, I sense the feeling isn’t mutual.
Sorry, to hear about a spinal issue impacting your passion for riding. Great memories though.
