Black or White…

Daily writing prompt
Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.

It just so happens to be early morning on my Saturday, so the last thing I got excited about, ended up being my morning cup of jo.

I am a coffee monster… I’ve had a cup of coffee in my hand for nearly 50 years. My uncle Leo got me hooked! The funny man intrigued me, as he dabbed drops of Tobasco sauce into the swirling black liquid. He put that sauce on absolutely everything. I remember very little of the man, but the coffee creation will be there forever.

From then until today I have been like a Dr. Seuss story when it comes to how I love coffee…

I love it in the morning and I love at night

I love it Black and I love it white

Give it to me hot or give it to me cold

You can’t say you have never been told

I will drink it with toast or maybe some cake

No matter the direction, my coffee I will take…

Lucky for you, I will stop rhyming… it is hurting my brain. No worries. Coffee can fix it! Here, try it for yourself…

I left you some to-go cups… you’re crazy if you think I would let go of my Meemaw cup.

I do love you, but not THAT much… when I saw the cup on a shelf at Ross, I nearly knocked my Chica out of the way getting to it.

      1. I have read about that coffee bean that a monkey has to eat and poo out… no amount of money would make this ok for me… sorry, not sorry

      2. You know… I’ve heard about this. I’m with you…however, I have friends who have tried it and they say it’s delicious. It’s suppose to be the chemical reaction with the beans?! Ugh… I may try it one day. Not sure yet

      3. no amount of goodness makes the memory of where the bean came from, ok for me… lol… probably tastes wonderful, but I raised 6 kids and I have seen stuff that ain’t pretty… forever changed my tolerances… lol

  1. Only a true coffee lover can compose poetry with coffee as a central theme and that too with perfect rhyming…
I can imagine your super excitement with a coffee mug in your hand. It was fun reading your post.
