Daily writing prompt
Write about your first crush.

There wasn’t any point in trying to re-answer this prompt, as my memory hasn’t changed, nor have any of the character’s in my story about that first crush. Instead, I went and pulled my original prompt answer up and set to work, touching up the edges… and adding cookies, of course!

Ok, so maybe this is more about the shoes than the boy, but still…

His Name was Louie and we went to school together, but I’m not certain how old we all were… maybe 5th or 6th grade?

He used to sit on the steps in front of our school during lunch break, every day. There was a group of boys who always congregated around him, fully inflating his ego, maybe. I would wander over to where they sat nearly every day, hoping he’d look my way. In my silly mind, I was sure that he liked me by the way he always smiled and laughed at what I thought was funny. In reality, it was probably him just being kind, as I think he must have been a nice kid.

One particular afternoon, I had worn my new Cherokee Wedge high heeled shoes just to look especially pretty. They were really just giant floor level erasers, I am certain of it!

Anyway, as soon as the class bell rang, I was up and off to freshen myself up in the girls lavatory. Feeling like a model, I began my promenade down the corridor toward the school’s courtyard. Out the doors and down the steps I sashayed, coming to stand near the group of boys that always crowded around Louie.

Now my friends had been teasing me earlier that week, regarding my view of how he must feel about me. They all said I was just making it up. I was intent on showing them all!

I started up my usual flirty convo, laying on the demure smiles and light giggles that were supposed to be what you did to get a man. What happened next must go into a play by play of sorts, or a back and forth screenshot for your brain…

*I teased him about something, and to this day, I have no idea what it was…

*He made the gesture as if to pursue me, maybe to tickle or pick me up in his arms to circle me around in the air for the world to see his true love for me, showing all those girls a thing or two… wait… ok, maybe that was my thoughts, but all he did was lean forward with a smile on his face… I know Right? God bless my imagination!

*I turned around, thinking him to be in pursuit, and proceeded to run across the entire front courtyard of our school, just like Julie Andrews did in the Sound of Music. The only differences were, for starters, I was wearing those ridiculous eraser shoes. And, the other key thing to remember is that he was NOT following me! I thought he was, but never looked back to confirm.

*When I got to the other end of the yard, I turned to realize what had actually been the scene…

No one following me… me running like a Robin Williams version of Julie Andrews… the majority of my classmates rolling on the grass laughing… and to my horror, ALL the boys on the steps hooting and hollering to join the choir!

We were all so young, and it might seem as a bad memory, but it one of the funniest things I remember doing, and you know what, I think that nice boy really did like me. I actually remember him laughing with the others but he didn’t look like he wanted to. Honestly, I think he felt bad for me…

Kids say and do some of the funniest things, and I am forever grateful for all of my youthful funnies, as I am sure that you are as well. I was and am a pretty funny person! Not because I am a great mixer of words and jokes, but because I can laugh at myself without being judgy, and I love to tell others about something I did that I thought was really silly or funny, and they get to laugh with me, not at me. There is a difference!

Hope this brought out some laughs. God Bless!

Don’t forget your cookie…

Tuesday’s Tinkering…

You didn’t think that I’d forgotten about our missing little ant, did you?

Not a chance! Do try to keep in mind, however, finding an itty bitty little ant in the forest is far from easy. I had all the little ones out searching the woods frequently throughout each day; calling out her name, in the hopes that it might lead her back to the new farm house. I took it upon myself to make another visit to her family, being sure to leave her a message that include directions to our new location. Aside from that, all we could do was wait, and hope.

Even in the darkest of nights, when all seems lost to us, there is always hope!

As I sat the kitchen of our farm house this morning, quietly enjoying my first needed cup of coffee, my thoughts were suddenly disrupted by the distinct smell of cotton candy, floating in through my window. It surprised me so much that I nearly dropped my coffee in my lap! No, I wasn’t surprised that the the air was deliciously fragrant, just because of the candy smell. That would be silly, don’t you think? There are a myriad of glorious smells floating through the forest, at any given moment, and in any given season!

My surprise at the smell of cotton candy goes much deeper than just a yummy breeze, but you may or may not recall the reason, so I’ll explain. For those of you that don’t remember, there was a strong smell of cotton candy in the air, on the very day that miss Lilly first floated into our barn. Now, it probably makes a great deal more sense, as to why I nearly dropped my coffee when I noticed the air… I smelled Lilly!

I don’t know what most people smell when ants are around, but our little girl smells just like cotton candy! I jumped up out of my chair and ran out the back door, as fast as my legs could carry me, scanning the meadow from one side to the other! Seeing nothing with my eyes, I decided to try following my nose.

There, amidst the dandelions in the meadow, sat a strangely familiar looking creature…

Yes, anyone who knew her from the beginning will recognize those beautiful eyes…

Even if I’d been confused about the eyes, when the tiny ant began smiling at me… it removed all doubt from my mind! She may have gone a bit wild ant/bunny on us while out in the wilderness, but it’s still our Lilly! You try braving the wilds all by your onesie’s, and then let’s see what you look like when you finally get home. I know that I’d probably look a mess, to say the least…

If I Recall…

Daily writing prompt
What major historical events do you remember?

The first thing that came to my mind, trying to remember any Hysterical Events, was when Fabio got hit in the face by a passing bird, while riding a roller coaster in Vegas! That was funny, though I shouldn’t be laughing at another’s expense.

Ummmmm… what else?

ooooh oooooh! I got one, even though it never made the headlines.

When my husband and I first started RVing, we had to learn everything about that lifestyle, right fast and in a hurry! One of the first hurdles was gassing her up… the RV, that is.

I’d parked next to the fuel isle, and began observing my husband park our new home on wheels, in preparation for filling the gas tank. What happened next, was one of the most hilarious things I’ve ever seen!

I watched my husband step out of the RV and walk toward the fuel pump, only to then watch the RV begin to roll backwards, slowly following him along. He looked up at the RV as it passed him, before realizing it was outpacing him. Turning and running toward the door of the RV, it nearly ran him over as he stumbled frantically inside, just barely reaching the brake peddle before the RV hit the fuel station!

While, in that moment, I hadn’t been laughing, as I was in shock! However, once my brain caught up with my stomach, and realization dawned that the crisis had been averted… I nearly wet my pants laughing, as my husband’s white/red/green colored face reappeared from the RV’s swinging doorway. He took one look at my face through the car window, as I laughed myself silly… and then began to laugh, as well. We laugh about it, to this day!

I know that I’ve written a plethora of stories for everyone, regarding other knee slapping events, deep in the heart of my journey. If you are seriously looking for more hysterical events, my archives are there for your pleasure.

If you were at all wondering, yes, I’m well aware that the prompt asked about Historical Events, not Hysterical ones… I simply can’t come up with anything that wasn’t rather unpleasant to recall. With that in mind, I opted to go with my own goofy twist on things.

Here, have a cookie…

They’re hysterical!
