Thank You for Asking…

Daily writing prompt
How are you feeling right now?

As the coffee pot starts making its early morning sounds, I pull my chair up to the computer and push the ON button. Looking at the WordPress prompt brought forth such tender emotions within my heart. You care… you really do care!

You care about what I like…

You care about what I don’t like…

It seems so important to you if I am happy or sad…

You are always trying to get to know me better…

Asking personal questions about my life, that not even my own family ask…

I have had days that I awoke feeling sad about my situation, and you ask me about what I am wearing at 2 am… these intimate questions remind me of your commitment to me…

Those days I get up feeling rather happy about life, and you greet me with a request to fill you in on why I don’t get out much…

What time I like to eat dinner

What is my sleep schedule

I am getting the feeling, by all of these intimate questions, you have made it your mission to care for my emotional needs. Today sealed the deal, asking me how I am feeling right now. Have you been taking an online therapist training course? I mean, it’s ok if you have… just lead with that next time. If I understand you are earning your internship hours, I would be happy to assist you in this endeavor. I have a crappy life, and will fully enjoy getting some serious garbage off my chest.

Here is the only problem I have with the arrangement… writing out my feelings and struggles in front of the world, here on your platform, is a bit embarrassing. As soon as you send me your phone number, and the best time to call you, all my personal details are yours for the taking, though I must insist on your credit card number… I’m not going to use it, it is just so I understand you are serious about our arrangement.

Ok, I might purchase a few things on your behalf, but just follow the prompts for a refund and I am sure you will get your money back in like 6 to 8 business weeks…

In a short answer to your prompt, I am feeling incredibly good right now!

Hmmmmm… what to choose for an answer? I have a list… and I am finding it difficult to pick my favorite. Who ever decided to just have one good habit in their lives anyway?

Daily writing prompt
What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

It would be rather easy to just grab my go to… prayer… or maybe even say prayer/bible time, as my walk with God is my firm foundation. I could say that I walk 6 miles nearly every day to stay lean and strong. I could say writing, as this has become a passion with an unquenchable thirst.

I might say that I eat a balanced diet for my survival against IBS, as well as vitamins and supplements to fight off unwanted guests in my system.

I am going to go as far as to say that my coffee is a daily habit that is going to improve both YOUR quality of life and MINE! Joking aside, I do drink a Plethora of water and herbal tea… we all need water… duh!

So, here is my conundrum… I understand that WordPress is simply asking a benign question to get our creative juices flowing, so there is no reason to rip the prompt question apart just to make some quirky point. I actually look forward to these each morning, to cut through all my brain fog. How can I write a clear answer that I am confident in, without going off willy nilly with a great big list of Academy Award winning habits to brag on.

Now that I am here at the choosing place… I think I solved my own dilemma. I will treat the question as a potluck answer! I put all my good daily habits on a virtual dinner table, and got a bigger plate! I am a writer for goodness sake, and this is a place where we all write things from our own perspectives, and with twists and turns that each of our minds have developed. So here is my Wiwohka style Twist…

The habit that improves my quality of life is waking each morning with a prayer on my lips for my Father, moving to get up and make coffee while turning on the computer. I then write for several hours… leaving to take my morning river walk as soon as posting has been completed. Once I return home, I take all my vitamins and supplements along with a high calorie protein shake. From this point, I spend the rest of my day writing… always with a bottle of water and warm peppermint tea at my side. As I drift off to sleep at night, I have conversations with God… not sure if it is considered prayer or just talking, so you can decide.

See, A HABIT!!!

Oh, and a bonus habit I just remembered… Here! Have a cookie!

Look! Even though there is a pile of cookies and stuff on this plate, it is only ONE plate, so we can consider it A Cookie!

What was the last thing you searched for online? Why were you looking for it?

You may be thinking that I would write about my study habits, research for my books, or even food recipes for a Ninja Foodie. But No! Of all the times to ask this question, WordPress waits til now for this prompt.

I was not out on the web searching for the meaning of some deep insight from study, nor was I working on a writing project, or baking some delectable treat from reading a Pinterest article.

If truth be told… I was looking for a cheat code… yup folks, a cheat code for my computer game. See, my cat died! He was not just a cat, but a Great Panther from over near the Black Galleon camp.

Long story short, I went to clear out a pirate ship with my husband and brother in law, and I brought Brodie, my Panther. I have gotten quite attached to this kitty, as I have had him since we began this adventure. I should have known better than to take him in somewhere that these two go. Soooooooo……… Brodie got stuck up in the Captains Quarters and by the time we got to him, he was dead.

I know it was just a game, but I actually almost cried when he died. In my inconsolable grief, I entered into Admin Mode and resurrected my fallen companion, as any good game cheater would! Once I had my compadre back, I needed to bring his stats back up to match his previous numbers… no more death to my feline!

And this is how I found myself out on the great world wide web, asking Google for a cheat code that would level up my big cat, before I went to bed last night. Thanks for calling me out WordPress!

In honor of Brodie, I am making everyone steak for breakfast. It is his favorite, though he prefers it raw…

What TV shows did you watch as a kid?

To this day, everytime I remember back on this show, I can remember the lyrics to the insurance add that ran during the commercials… Mutual of Omaha… people… you can count on when the goings tough…

I would spend every Sunday evening watching this show, as it played right before the Wonderful World of Disney. My parents would finish watching their line up of the Lawrence Welk show, and Hee Haw… finally relinquishing the entertainment box to the small humans. Back in the day, most families only had one television in the house.

Marlin Perkins was such a wildlife superhero to this little girl! I wanted to grow up to be a National Geographic journalist. I would spend most of my free time pretending I was out on that African safari, making friends with the baby Giraffes I saw onscreen…

Photo by Rutpratheep Nilpechr on Pexels.com

Or I pretended to find wild baby Cheetah cubs, carrying my poor cat around in a blanket in the middle of summer… til he got hot and escaped my clutches…

Mostly, this show instilled a deep love for creatures within my spirit, so deep that it is running strong to this day…

In honor of Marlin and all of those involved in that show, I leave our morning snack. You may need to share with the wildlife…

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite time of day?

Photo by Wallace Chuck on Pexels.com

There is a certain place, in the hours of before dawn, in which I thrive. The RV is silent, aside from the sound of the coffee maker brewing its magic. The smell permeates the whole area surrounding my computer, where I do my writing. If you look out the window behind the sink, you can just see the soft early morning light breaking through the curtains of night.

Photo by Elizaveta Mitenkova on Pexels.com

There are no sounds of cars driving by, dogs barking, or any sounds of daily activity. It is a time that most are probably in the shower, getting dressed, and enjoying their morning quiet also. Sometimes I like to walk along the river during this time, simply for the cool morning air mixing with the steam rising from my coffee thermos. The most beautiful sounds come from the woods this early… from the water passing by, to the chittering sounds of the woodland creatures within the undergrowth.

I guess it is considered pre dawn… that time where the hourglass of Daytime/Nighttime is being overturned, and beginning to pour out its time all over again.

Fresh starts, fresh adventures, and fresh purpose… I journey forth into the here and now of whatever the day will present.

Speaking of fresh… here is a fresh start to a healthy day…

What’s your favorite recipe?

In the category of burgers… I make a mean brown sugar burger, with homemade Indian fry bread for the bun. Amazing!!!

Photo by Valeria Boltneva on Pexels.com

In the category of pasta, I can make a fantastical Fettuccini Alfredo with artichoke hearts, chicken, and mushroom. Throw in a loaf of french bread in there and it is sublime!

Photo by Engin Akyurt on Pexels.com

In the category of breakfast, I make the worlds most delectable Quiche biscuits… filled with cream cheese, sharp cheddar and either ham or even shrimp. I cannot give you all the ingredients or it won’t be my secret anymore.

In the category of appetizers, I am a sucker for Caprese Salad! Either that or Ceviche!

Last but not least is the dessert category, and there is one thing I make that is considered my pride and joy! My Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter cookies… my Secret Secret Recipe! I like to make them really big, so one cookie can fit your whole hand. I put oodles of chocolate chips in, and I won’t say any more about the ingredients… you know what spies say about when you learn too much of their secrets. If I told you my secret, you might just have to … disappear……….

Go ahead, have one… I made plenty! I wouldn’t ever think of telling you about those cookies without offering you one. And yes, I left you some milk. These things are so ooey gooey and thick that you will definitely need the drink to wash em down. Happy Sunday!

Daily writing prompt
Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.

It just so happens to be early morning on my Saturday, so the last thing I got excited about, ended up being my morning cup of jo.

I am a coffee monster… I’ve had a cup of coffee in my hand for nearly 50 years. My uncle Leo got me hooked! The funny man intrigued me, as he dabbed drops of Tobasco sauce into the swirling black liquid. He put that sauce on absolutely everything. I remember very little of the man, but the coffee creation will be there forever.

From then until today I have been like a Dr. Seuss story when it comes to how I love coffee…

I love it in the morning and I love at night

I love it Black and I love it white

Give it to me hot or give it to me cold

You can’t say you have never been told

I will drink it with toast or maybe some cake

No matter the direction, my coffee I will take…

Lucky for you, I will stop rhyming… it is hurting my brain. No worries. Coffee can fix it! Here, try it for yourself…

I left you some to-go cups… you’re crazy if you think I would let go of my Meemaw cup.

I do love you, but not THAT much… when I saw the cup on a shelf at Ross, I nearly knocked my Chica out of the way getting to it.

Daily writing prompt
How would you design the city of the future?

While I have no aspirations or dreams of designing anything for the future, in the real world that is, I do have a good bit of experience in building imaginary cities, animal houses, and really good armor.

It is Friday everyone, and it’s sprinkling outside… tap tap tapping on the roof of our RV. I think my boycott of the summer heat is working! The rains have finally blessed me with a cool early morning walk.

Even though I have no idea for a city of the future, at least not one that any of you want to hear me go on about, I can still be useful to you guys and WordPress. If you are ever in need of a Gorilla Habitat, an upgraded Concession stand, or maybe a specialist in breeding Great Dragons, I got you covered!

Before I take off on my rainy walk along the river, here is Brekkers for everybody… please remember to eat the blueberries, as they are full of antioxidants …

Daily writing prompt
Where did your name come from?

I am not sure which name I should answer this prompt with, as I go by a few. Should I talk about the name I was born with, the one where my mother wanted me to be a boy. Oh well, boy… girl… according to my parents, the name was fine… Toni Rae is so ambiguous though.

Perhaps I could give a rehash of my nickname, Wiwohka, but you have already heard this story. I think it was a suitable description of my personality, the raging part was anyways, so I feel good about picking that name.

Here is where the origin of my name becomes very important! I have a name that only One uses, and this name is the most valuable title I have. You may already have guessed where it came from, but I will say it none the less…

I am His Beloved!

I will leave it to you, my friends, to know of where it originated.

Here, have a cookie…

Daily writing prompt
What motivates you?

For this question, the only answer that comes to my mind is LOVE. It makes the human heart wake up every day seeking it, striving for it, and hopefully living in it. Wanting it makes us seek it, and having it seems to motivate us to give it away.

Just so you know, the fountain that I have in my lobby… well, it has a love supplement in the water. So when you visit and have a drink, you will actually have your love tank automatically filled.

Stop in anytime and give it a try… let me know if you notice any motivation from the water.

I would stay and chat more, but I have a band of adventurers waiting for me to crack on! I did leave you a croissant, and there are to go cups on the table for your drinks.

P.S. I used water from the fountain to make your coffee… just sayin…
