Just One?

Daily writing prompt
Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?

I can’t say that there is only one quote I live my life by, as I live my life by an entirely different mindset. If I were to live my life by nothing more than a single persons words, it would be the words of God.

If you stick around me for any length of time, you’ll hear me reciting words from scripture, a great deal more than a single specific quote!

If I’m to chose only one isolated quote, it would have to be when Jesus said, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Matthew 16:24

I Can’t Play Favorites…

Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?

For me, it’s an impossibility! I simply can’t choose a favorite holiday, as each differing seasonal, cultural, or religious celebration has it’s own unique beauty to be experienced!

I love Christmas for it’s own meaning, along with Thanksgiving, Easter, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, and on and on! I simply don’t wish to put one above the other for appreciation and/or value.

There you have it, hot off the press, as so many inquiring minds want to know… I like em all!

Have I Ever?!?!

Daily writing prompt
Have you ever been camping?

I’ve camped so much over my life that it is simply easier to show you…

Even now, I camp every single day inside our RV! We’ve been doing this for over 3 years now, so this is the longest camping trip to date!

Sleeping…

Daily writing prompt
When do you feel most productive?

During our waking hours each day, everyone will have an answer to the many differing things that bring them a sense of productivity, but what becomes of all those wonderful accomplishments, if one is exhausted from lack of sleep?

If I have had a full night of restful sleep, when I approach the following days tasks and responsibilities, I feel on top of the world! But, if I’ve struggled with any manner of disruptions to that period of rest, I’m left feeling tired, irritable, and short on patience for any of what the day offers.

So there you have it, my answer to the prompt is sleep… that is if you were hanging on my every word with rapt attention. If not,

What are your favorite emojis?

No, this isn’t necessarily a favorite emoji, but it sure does fit the way I feel about this prompt question. Are we four?!?!

As much as I love you all, I could not give a flying hoot about what anyone’s favorite emoji might be, for crying out loud! Why on earth would any of us find this a useful question? Unless you are a middle school teacher, using this as a get to know each other sort of question, it seems out of place. Personally, I feel as if by answering the prompt, I’ve just somehow dumbed myself down!

It’s Saturday and I’ve got things to do that will be a great deal more satisfying than picking out an emoji of a pile of poo, which was about the only thing I was tempted to post in here… sorry, not sorry!

I’ve pretty much decided that from here on out, I’m just going to ask myself a daily question to answer, each time the prompt offers us such Bantha Fodder…

In the exact order from my draft board,

Is This the Twilight Zone???

Daily writing prompt
When is the last time you took a risk? How did it work out?

Please tell me that I’m not the only one to have noticed our return, once again, to the question of risk! Just in case it doesn’t seem to make sense, the picture I’ve used for todays prompt question, should represent going in a circle over and over again.

Quite honestly, I’m kind of sick and tired of trying to fish out a past, present, or future version of some sort of risk that I may or may not have either succeeded or failed at… for Pete’s sake, come on!

We all take risks every day, in whatever we choose to do! I, personally am a writer, so it goes without saying that I risk myself each and every day, publishing a post that the entire world might read, with a simple point and click feature, offered on their computers.

Parenthood is risky, so is a college education, and the list goes on and on. I’m a bit confounded that we’re asked to keep at it, in the department of answering a prompt about risk. Did they not read our answers to the other prompts? I think that’s probably where the answer lies; too many clicks without actually reading the content! Autogenerated anything has its drawbacks, and this one in particular, has no one actually looking at what the machine is doing, I think.

If you’re not going to read my answer, prompt machine, I’m not bothering to give it to you!

For everyone stopping by to see what I’ve written, I will leave some cookies, and a very big I LOVE YOU to all my WordPress family…

I Chose To Live…

Daily writing prompt
Describe a risk you took that you do not regret.

First I chose to run…

Then I chose to stand…

From there I chose to walk on…

I chose God and life over suicide…

I chose to have my children…

I chose to heal…

I chose to live…

I’ve no regrets!

Since they’re virtual, you can take the risk, as there aren’t any calories to regret!

Bad Kitty…

Daily writing prompt
Write about a time when you didn’t take action but wish you had. What would you do differently?

The first thing that popped into my mind, when I read this prompt question, was the time I ate a piece of chocolate cake that the cat had peed on! I wish I were joking, but alas, there is nothing made up about that event.

What would I have done differently? I would have made the cat live outdoors much sooner than I did. The peeing on things had begun about a month prior. I’d been attempting to correct the cats behavior, rather than evicting her from the house… until that day!

Why on earth would this be the first thing I came up with, as I read the daily prompt?

As a general rule of thumb, I do not look on past decisions as something I would change. I stay away from the whole woulda shoulda coulda mindset, not only because it’s done and gone, but because our pasts make us who we are now. Mess with one eensie weensie past decision and who knows what all will be affected, here in the present.

So, for the most part, there isn’t a great list of things I would venture to safely change… aside for the cat and the cake… that I could un-remember!

Here, have a piece of cake… I’m sure it’ll be fine! This cutie wouldn’t dream of being naughty…

Nervous… Me?

Daily writing prompt
What makes you nervous?

There was a time when I could say that I was the poster child for Anxiety! My nervousness was my very own survival mechanism, of choice!

Not much of my life went the way I’d wanted, leaving me traumatized and wounded for many, many years. All of the life interuptuses I’ve endured, some from my own making, have landed me with two nervous roommates that never leave… IBS and Fibromyalgia.

While you may be wondering why I’ve allowed them to stay, to me, they are more like helpless children, needing constant care and supervision. In good conscience, I could no sooner evict these two, than I could my own children. By loving and tending my roommates, or scars if you will, God allows me to manage my own nervous anxieties, with grace, compassion and understanding.

Assigning a specific culprit to hold responsibility for making us nervous, seems rather silly. As WordPress is not leading a support group or therapy session, by asking everyone what makes them nervous, the only thing this prompt will successfully do is make everyone nervous about answering what makes them nervous.

Did they even look up the definition of the word, before they thought to ask the question? I did!

According to Google, which the world seems to think knows everything, the definition of nervous is this:

easily agitated or alarmed; tending to be anxious; highly strung.

“a sensitive, nervous person”

It seems rather ludicrous to ask a nervous person what makes them nervous! It quickly became apparent to me that the idea of being nervous is a mannerism, or a trait that has long since been established. Once I read the definition, I began thinking about how hard it would be to just randomly come up with an easy answer, over a cup of coffee in the morning.

If it were that easy for all us nervous folk to discover what makes us nervous, there would be millions of spare dollars floating around, that no longer need to be paid to the professionals who spend years learning how to become a therapist!

Just sayin…

They were supposed to look like pins and needles, but as the AI art generator reflects, it was much easier said than done! The closest it could come to what I wanted, was cookies stabbed by a decorative paperclip… go figure!
