My list is too long…

Daily writing prompt
Who are your favorite artists?

I realize that I’ve said this before but WP really should try harder with some of these prompts! I mean, come on…. why can’t they give us a little more direction, than simply saying “artist”? How can I even break my list down into reasonably smaller lists, in order to pick my favorite in that category? See my problem? The struggle is real, my friends!

I have so many lists of my favorite things, I could rival Julie Andrews from the Sound of Music! She was able to sing her favorites into one beautiful song… just one! Are you kidding me?!

Why just last night, I watched the most amazing videos of this young woman who can make complete reenactments of differing scenes from CGI movies, like The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and similar movies. She was so bright, I thought. Her husband was too!

In the same evening, I also watched music videos from past episodes of The Voice… such talented voices, oh my goodness!

I once toured the Bellagio Hotel, down in Vegas. Their entire lobby ceiling was covered with Chihuly Glass. Good lord, that man’s talented!

There’s nothing I enjoy more, than touring different art museums, historical sites, and the like, just to view the differing talents gifted for our enjoyment, and pleasure.

The definition of artist is as follows, according to Google…

An artist is a person who creates art, using skill and imagination in mediums like painting, sculpture, music, or writing. The term also applies to skilled performers, such as actors and musicians, and more broadly to anyone who is exceptionally skilled or expert in a particular area, like a “scam artist”.

Key aspects of the definition:

  • Creation of Art: The core definition involves producing works of art that are primarily subject to aesthetic criteria.

Skilled Performer: The term can refer to public performers in the performing arts, like a trapeze artist or a jazz artist.

Exceptional Skill: It describes someone who is very good at something, demonstrating exceptional skill, such as a “strikeout artist” or a “scam artist”.

Subjectivity: What constitutes art and who can be called an artist is often a subjective matter, with definitions ranging from professional endeavors to passionate hobbies.

Broad Application: The word can apply to a wide range of artistic disciplines, including visual arts (painting, sculpture, photography), performing arts (music, dance, acting), and other creative fields like storytelling.

Why did I go to all the trouble of sharing the entire page of information, you might be asking yourselves? Well, to be honest, I got super excited when I saw the last part of the definition… the part about Broad Application… you guys, we’re all in here! We’re all artists, and I have Google for my proof! See? There at the very end, it says “storytelling”. That’s us!

I spend hours each day, visiting all of your different sites, reading your art, and appreciating the gift God has bestowed on so many of you! You guys are absolutely Supercalafragelisticexpialidotious!

And, I’ve got Google to back me up on that!

Daily writing prompt
Who are your favorite artists?

The beautiful thing about artists… they come in all shapes, forms and sizes.

Depending on the person who is viewing all the differing genre’s to pick from, there are a myriad of possible answers… possible artists!

I, myself, have a mishmosh of different artists that I consider my favorites.

Though I can appreciate the beauty in paintings and sculptures, they’ve never really drawn me toward those genre’s, as far as picking someone with a particularly good skill! That’s not to say that I don’t think there are some amazing painters and sculptors, I just wouldn’t know the first thing about picking one out above the others.

I would surmise that in terms of picking out favorite anything’s, most people go with what they know. What I know about myself is that I love reading, writing, music and nature… so we will run with that for today’s prompt answer.

In movies, I love Jennifer Garner, Henry Cavell, Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Vigo Mortenson, Julie Andrews… oh, and the list goes on and on, my friends!

In the category of reading, I love C.S. Lewis, Brian Jacques, Rita Mae Brown, Iris Johansen, Tolkien, Rawlings, Judy Bloom… ya, there’s just too many to call up, at the moment.

Now, in terms of writing, there’s Willow, David, Mangus, I.V. Greco, Fibrecraft Grannie, Lou, Cate, Juanita, Banana Cat, Fandango, Willie, Edward, Ophelia, Kevin, and so many others that I don’t have the time to sing their praises… partly, because I don’t know everyone’s actual name.

As far as music goes, if you think you’re going to get an answer for this category, you shall be sadly disappointed! There is simply far to much talent out there for me to limit my favorites to less than probably 40 or 50 artists… and that list changes with each passing year. Some artists will be getting sweeter with time and age, while new talent will be rising up through the masses.

Just sayin…

Here, have a cookie…

These are some of my favorites!

Who are your favorite artists?

Normally, I don’t give one named answers to these sort of inquiries, as I am not one to swoon over any particular artist verses another… I simply don’t think on it all that much.

However… if I were given no choice but to answer, well then, I choose Julie Andrews hands down!

I could give you a full list of all that the woman has accomplished, but I don’t intend to do so, because it would take me all day to look them all up and give you a rundown of each one . I will stick to my favorite of all favorites… The Sound of Music!

I’ll begin by saying that she made it look easy to raise that many kids at once, like she did in this movie. Maria could sing, she could dance, sew, tell bedtime stories, give young love advice, and hike! She was a trailblazer over those alps. A woman after my own heart!

When Julie Andrews sings, we can honestly say it seems like she is telling a story… like we do when we write. I raised my girls singing about raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens…

Julie brought Maria Von Trapp alive for millions of people, and I personally think this ability is what makes an Artist really great! I’ll bet she had you wanting to dance across that mountain field like she did, with a guitar in your hand. I know that I did!

I will tell you right now, it was that movie that gave me the idea to make my kids own clothes, so I taught myself how to sew and created my own design for the kids pajamas, rice filled teddy bears for colds and flus, and even a pull over fleece dog jacket for our furry family members. I suppose she gave me some creative inspiration.

Anyway, Julie Andrews is my pick for a fav, but let this not reflect poorly on any other artist out there… aren’t we all artists of one make or another?

Have a cup of tea… I am nervous over my eye appointment this morning so I am not hungry… besides, I don’t know about all you but all the sweets lately are making my teeth hurt, so for today it is simply tea. I have an assortment of flavors for you to pick from, so take your time and find your favorite flavor… mine is peppermint.
