First, Let Me Check the Weather…

Daily writing prompt
What are your top ten favorite movies?

Everyone knows that one’s movie choices and go-to’s are always relative to what the weather is, how work is going, and/ or if the kids are a bunch of bum Nuggets, etc.

For example, cold winter weather brings out “The Sound of Music, Lonesome Dove, The Tenth Kingdom, Ladyhawk, The Hobbit, all three Lord of the Rings, Arthur Christmas, Scrooged, and of course, The Grinch!”

Now if the weather seems fine, but I’m in a funk, out comes, all of the “Harry Potter’s”, which should be seven, if you weren’t counting… plus “Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Bedknobs and Broomsticks!”

Since my kids are pretty consistent about being the disrespectful little rodents that they normally are, their behavior no longer bothers me, as it once did. But I will throw in ten more fun fav’s, like “Pirate’s of The Caribbean (we’ll just count one, instead of five), all four of the Indiana Jones movies, and the entire Jurassic Park series”… which should make ten for this list.

Maybe now you’ll agree that our lists of favorite anything, are relative to what our state of mind is in, at the moment the question is being asked.

I’ve a list of musicals that feel like my favorites when I’m in a singing mood, but I’ve also a group of my fav’s in the categories of Humor, Action/Adventure, Animated movies, Romantic, etc.

See how the lists keep getting bigger? Maybe it has more to do with me not wanting to be forced into a box with questions like these… who knows, but as Forest Gump always says, “That’s all I got to say about that.”

Here, have a cookie…

They’re one of my favorites!

What are your top ten favorite movies?

  • Lonesome Dove with Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones and Danny Glover… and a ton more cast that was amazing.
  • Two Mules for Sister Sara with Clint Eastwood and Shirley McClaine.
  • The Fiddler on the Roof with Chaim Topol and a very young Paul Glaser.
  • The Tenth Kingdom with Ed Oneil, John Larroquette, Dianne West, and Rutger Hauer… again with a whole lot of other amazing cast.
  • Mary Poppins with Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
  • Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with Dick Van Dyke and Sally Anne Howes.
  • The Wizard of Oz with such a young Judy Garland.
  • Lord of the Rings with Vigo Mortenson… so much talent.
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite of the whole series… I think Gary Oldman did a fantastic job.
  • I know it is a series but FireFly with Nathan Fillian, Adam Baldwin and Morena Baccarin… she is so pretty.

Wow! This was hard to do this morning… I think I am fighting off a cold, so I am fuzzy headed. But never fear… good ole coffee is here… this phoenix needs to fluff her feathers and get moving. It’s a brand new day people, and if ya stick around, you can enjoy the wedding…
