Planes, trains, and…

You’re going on a cross-country trip. Airplane, train, bus, car, or bike?

While I think I ‘d rather enjoy a really cozy cabin, aboard Amtrak, I couldn’t help but think of that Steve Martin and John Candy movie Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. It’s one of my favorite holiday movies to watch, and most everyone loved both of those comedic actors?

My favorite part of the whole movie was the airport scene with Edie McClurg, where they were trying to get their rental car, and she was busy making turkey sounds on the phone.

Then again, the snuggly hotel scene…

Specifically, the Chatty Cathy doll reference had me nearly pulling a stomach muscle from too much laughing.

While I love all of that movie, I would prefer that I stay on a train… with room service!

Have a cookie for the road…

What, no boat?

“I’ve been everywhere, folks, I’ve been everywhere” should be stamped across my story somewhere, honestly!

If I could cross this beautiful nation any way that I wanted to… I’d go by boat!

Seriously, think about it for a second. Take all the lazy rivers, the rapids, as well as the big wide busy waterways across the country. Sure, you’d have to make use of taxi’s or buses to get from one to the other, as you made your way from one water source to another… but it would be worth it! Think of how many places you could see, visit, and experience along the way. What might be around the next bend in the river, you know?!

Sure, it would probably take half a year, a ton of money, planning and all that… but still.

Here’s a cookie for the road… or river… oh, bother, you know what I mean…

Personally, I would like to put in a request for one of those magic elevators like Willy Wonka owned!

It’s Sunday… the sun is shining in glorious warmth… I shall take my leave, to carry my cabin fever caboose out onto the trail nearby. For today, my cross-country trip is only 2 miles away, so I’ll be using my feet for mode of travel. The river is absolutely lovely right now, as the spring rains have it flowing high on its banks. I caught a glimpse of a duck floating in a sheltered pocket yesterday, so I’m going back today, hoping to see if she has any wee ones hidden in the reeds. Maybe I’ll get lucky and catch a picture of them, if I’m stealthy enough to approach within camera shot… wish me luck!

Here, have a sunny treat…
