Healing waters…

Daily writing prompt
Describe your most ideal day from beginning to end.

I’ve always had the desire to travel along the Nile aboard one of those beautiful boats, or possibly sailing over the waves on an authentic Pirate ship. I wouldn’t even mind taking all those sea sickness pills, just to make sure I don’t get ill.

I’ve been on a charted fishing boat, but those waters were so wild that I barely made the 4 hour trip without running for the bathroom… but I didn’t get sick!

Now that I’ve remembered that little excursion, I think that my ideal day would have to be experienced on the calmer waters of the Nile. I didn’t say calm waters, but calmer waters. I’ve seen videos of spots on that river that are rather sketchy.

However, for all intents and purposes, let’s just say that our river excursion would be the calm stretches of water. I mean, this is my ideal day, right?

To wake up in one of those stately rooms, aboard a beautiful river boat, would be divine. Lying on a posh bed, covered in crisp, clean linen and immense fluffy feather pillows. I can hear the waters gently lapping against the side of the boat, outside my window.

Stretching lazily, I roll over and ring a small, delicate bell, alerting the attendant that I’d like my morning tea. (Nobody put any budget limits on this prompt, so don’t judge my imaginary poshness!)

When I’ve finished my first tea of the day, a bath has already been drawn in one of those beautifully crafted claw footed basins. All the towels smell of Jasmine, and there’s a side shelf with all differing types of bath oils, and soaps. I pick an argon oil mixed with some sort of fragrant flower, making me feel exotic and mysterious.

The whole of my morning will be spent on deck, sipping more tea, and watching the land as it passes me by.

Of course, most of the day will be spent touring one of any number of historical sights along the river. I’ve always wanted to travel along the Nile, watching numerous documentaries about the land, the culture, and the people. Honestly, I should have become a journalist for National Geographic. Oh, well. Woulda coulda shoulda, right?

Anyway, after a long day of adventuring through the pages of history, I’d spend the rest of my evening on deck, playing cards with the porters, and listening to them tell stories about themselves, and their families.

When one spends an entire day running through the desert seeking history and adventure… that beautiful bed, covered in all those pillows and fine linen feel simply divine…

Cookies?

There’s plenty of tea and coffee, as well. I spared no imaginary expense!

Thank you for choosing Journey With Me Adventure Travel! If you would please take a seat, wherever one’s available on our tour bus… Oh, and don’t forget to put your seatbelt on, just in case things get bumpy. Ok, is everyone comfortable? Alrighty then, we should really get started. This most ideal day is quite full of things to describe from beginning to end, so we’re gonna have to do this Wiwohka Wonka style! If you tend to experience motion sickness, there’s a med-kit under each seat, carrying a barf bag and some Dramamine. My rigs always come prepared for the unexpected! Ok, let’s do this!

Thank you for riding along on this adventure extravaganza! It was far less bumpy than I’d expected, so if anyone is interested in eating breakfast before you go, I’ve left some goodies…

To Bathe or Not To Bathe…

Right now, it’s not even a hypothetical answer, considering that we are still surviving with only one working water line that only gets cold water to one faucet… no toilet plumbing, nor a working shower!

Now that you have a better understanding of why I am answering the prompt with a picture of an empty bathtub, I will tell you, in truth, what my ideal day would look like…

Every perfect day starts out with a cup of piping hot coffee, mixed to perfection with my favorite French Vanilla creamer…

As I sip my most favorite beverage in the quiet early morning hour, I study and rest on Gods promises, given to me within His word.

After several hours of reading, writing, and corresponding with those in the WordPress community, I am rewarded with a glorious walk along the river, continuing on into the park, where my favorite squirrels all live and play.

All that walking used up a great deal of energy.

Upon my return from the above mentioned walking adventure, I would then climb into a luxuriously hot and soap filled bathtub… you know those really lovely bathtubs with the clawed feet that sit on the surface of the floor… ya, that kind! I would just lay there soaking away all the aches and pains, worries and woes, and whatever else I’ve been carrying around.

All this pampering and relaxation, might lead you to think that it would be time for a nap… nope! There is still yet to be done in the hours left, so let the refueling begin…

Once refueled and re-energized, I would then spend several hours of uninterrupted quiet, continuing on in the writing of my upcoming novel. I may be close to halfway finished, so that’s an encouragement!

I would spend the remaining hours of the evening with my husband, sharing our day with one another and enjoying a quiet dinner together.

In truth, I already do most all of the above mentioned things… apart from having hot water, or a bathtub!

Don’t worry… I wash my hands before making your cookies…
