Seeing Eye to Eye #9

If I come out of surgery looking like this, you all have to pretend that I look perfectly normal. If you are having trouble not staring at my eyes, just focus on the fact that I have only one nostril… it’ll be much easier that way.

Me and My Shadow…

Daily writing prompt
Do you have a favorite place you have visited? Where is it?

My most fond memory of a place visited would have to be Kamloops, British Columbia.

When my oldest daughter was about eleven, I wanted to do something special with her… just the two of us. I packed her up and drove straight through from Seattle to Kamloops for a massive Native American Gathering… a Powwow! I had wanted to attend one for much of my life and finally had an opportunity for a Mom Daughter Road Trip, so I took it!

I woke my girl up during the night, packed her snoring little body into the passenger side of our Toyota Camry and headed for Canada. We drove straight through Banff National Forest, which was amazing, by the way. Once we got to Kamloops and dumped all our stuff in the hotel, we headed for all the noise!

We attended two days of amazing displays of incredible Regalia, outstanding music and intense dance performances… f.y.i. taking pictures willy nilly is considered quite rude. If you wish to take a picture of someone, it is sort of expected to give a gift in return. I learned this early on and left my camera in my purse.

We toured the local museums, got lost driving around in the countryside and ate whatever we wanted. I will never forget that trip. I honestly can’t remember what I bought my daughter, but she picked out a necklace for me that I have kept to this day! It is a bronze cast of a wolfs face. Though the necklace bindings all gave out, I have continued to reset the cast all these years later.

While some may think I remember the Powwow as my favorite place to visit… in truth, it’s the time spent with my oldest that holds my memories fast! She and I haven’t spoken in some time. Many years have passed since we were that close. No matter how angry she is, no matter how unforgiving she tries to be… I know we will always have Kamloops, and that is enough memory to get me to the gates…

Seeing Eye to Eye #8

Today is the last day of a very dark and lonely journey. Tomorrow begins a whole new leg of my travels. If I keep my feet on the path, my ear to the ground, and keep this body in motion…

Ok, enough with all the body part puns… I was attempting some humor, but my brain started hurting. It’s too early and I need creamer for my coffee.

Basically, Ima be eating junk food and gaming today. Distraction tactics are all on board to ensure that time doesn’t drag on forever. I’m no longer keeping fears at bay… now I’m simply too excited for things to be finished.

I am not a fan of waiting, as you’ve probably picked up on by now. Patience is usually sought after by most. Unfortunately, it’s in my nature to want instant satisfaction, so exercising some patience takes me a bit of work… hence the food, gaming, and bad joke writing on my part.

It’s all good! While my whole world is changing and getting brighter to me, it may not be as noticeable to you guys. All you will probably notice is a ton more writing, here in the Lobby…

Not Sorry!

Here, have a brownie…

He won’t bite… I made him double pinky promise! I can say that since he has an extra finger.

Eazie Peazie…

I’ll see your five things and raise you five!

Daily writing prompt
Share five things you’re good at.

I can whine,

I can cry,

I can nag, brag, and sing…

But what I’m especially good at is

Sharing and caring,

giving and living,

and most importantly…

being loved by my God!

Seeing Eye to Eye #7

I’m cranky and I have cabin fever…

This is what I got when I asked my AI for a picture of a squirrel riding a lion… don’t blame me, it’s not my idea!

Even with one bad eye yet to be fixed, I can still see that this looks more like a lion had a kid with a kangaroo and got this CatSquirlion!

It did make me laugh and feel a bet better about being stuck inside…. how about you?

Here, have a snack…

Again, I have cabin fever…

Seeing Eye to Eye #6

I think I want to invest in a really good pair of sunglasses! I feel like I should keep them covered in the sun… now that I am getting them fixed. It’s not that the brightness bothers me, but I don’t want to undo any of the repairs provided by my surgeries.

Call me paranoid, I know, but I don’t want to do this again!

I am now fully enveloped in Cabin Fever! Walking has been sidelined until the second eye is finished. I want to walk so bad, but I have vertigo something awful. My eyes are fighting over which one is supposed to do what, which is to be expected, until the second surgery on Wednesday. Knowing me, I would fall down a man hole while crossing the street.

Tomorrow is the last post op for this first eye, and then I will try to walk on my trail at least once before my next surgery. Taking it easy is not my thing, so I am stoked for the second eye getting a makeover. Then there will no stopping this girl from hitting the ground running… well maybe just walking … for now.

Live Wire…

Think of this week as sort of a traveling week… an adjustment to a new nomadic lifestyle for the Israelites. While they adjust to eating, sleeping, and living on the fly… I too am settling in to a new and foreign lifestyle. I am adjusting to living with and using what feels like a totally new eyeball.

As I try adjusting to the way I see things, read things, and even move and function… I recognize how much more difficult things must have been for Gods’ Village in Training.

As I’ve no full understanding of the hows and whys of my own actual eyesight restoration, at present I’m not nearly capable of exploring this part of the Israelites growth either. For now, we can call this week my extra long literary napping period. If things keep progressing as well as they have thus far, I anticipate being back in the Lobby with all my bells and whistles by next weekend…

You didn’t think that I would leave you without any Sunday music or our Potluck goodies did you?

Rise Up is our song this morning coming to you from CAIN… listen to the words and you will know why I chose it. God Bless!

This Sundays Potluck is brought to you by John Husband Medical Center… that’s my babe!

He got me my Twizzler Pull-a-parts for snacking so that’s first…

FYI… he didn’t do all this in one day… I can’t eat that much at one time!

Now that we are all sufficiently stuffed with the heavy stuff, I will leave you with a light dessert…

A mint…
