I think we all feel a bit discombobulated during the days following Christmas, and leading up to the New Years celebrations.
Somewhere in there, we might attempt a few days of ridiculously unproductive work, though many opt to use up their vacation days in an attempt at recovery, of any sort!
Personally, I’m opting to lay low this week, letting the Christmas vibes flow…
2025 will get here when it gets here, so there’s no sense in hurrying, I say.
Enjoy your leftovers, and hopefully a quiet weekend.
Merry Christmas to all of my WordPress family! I truly love you guys so much that there’s no way I would put coal into your stockings… not when I’ve been planning and preparing for so long!
By the way, before we start unwrapping things, you’re never going to guess what Santa got me for my present, this year. When I opened my eyes this morning, there, sitting upon my chest and looking at me was none other than an adorable and cheeky little flying squirrel!
Yup! Apparently, Santa had a heart to heart with the Pinion King! It was gently pointed out that the little squirrel, while needed for his new princely duties, also had family at the barn… those that were with him from his earliest days. It obviously softened the old king’s heart and he actually agreed with Santa, allowing Squagon to come home for a whole week!
As I write this, the babes are all having a beautiful reunion with one another, trading presents, eating goodies and playing holiday games with Brutus and miss Tilly. I’ll have the rest of the day to spend at the barn, but this morning is reserved for you, my friends!
You’ll find instructions on the table beside the door that you just entered…
We must set the stage for what is to come
There are items on each table to get the job done…
First pick your jammies, then pick your robe’s
Don’t forget your slippers, you know how this goes…
We’ll all need some cocoa or coffee or tea
Don’t forget all those pastries, or hungry you’ll be…
There’s a cushion for each of you, there by the fire
Sit down and get comfy in your new jammie attire…
You’ll note there are bags placed all about the room
Inside are the gifts that I picked out for you…
There are journals for writing your feelings and thoughts
And the pens that go with them are just there, in that pot…
Now, for all of you pet lovers
You’ll find bags of treats and toys
No flurbies left behind this day
Even they need to feel some joy…
I didn’t forget all you wonderful crafters
whose needlework reflects so much charm
Look for the bright colored bag in the corner
filled with assorted knitting hooks and yarn…
There’s another for all you DIYer’s, filled with many bits and bobs
Cameras, glue and tool kits, for those who like doing odd jobs…
I can’t overlook all the athletic types
They come in all shapes and sizes
For runners or walkers or even sports talkers
This bag is full of surprises…
Last but not least
I’ve one more gift to share
For each and every one of you
to show how much I care…
Please pick out a magic puppy
They don’t shed or poop on your floor
Whenever you turn on your computer
They can greet you at the virtual door!
I wish I could mention you each by name, to show you how much you mean to me… all of you! In truth, there’s too big of a list! Just know that I see you… each of you… and I think of you and pray for you, often!
Yes, this is a silly virtual Christmas I’ve presented, but it’s the best I can do. If nothing else, it brightened everyone’s morning… mine especially!
I’ve had to sleep at the barn for the last several nights, what with all the gifts sitting under the tree. Brutus and I have been playing tag team on the barn’s package security duty.
These little ones can be oh so devious…
Quite honestly, I wasn’t at all prepared for it! Who’d have thought they could be so inventive with their numerous attempts at gift pilfering?
So… here I sit, half awake and trying to clear the cobwebs of sleep from my brain, a full day ahead of scheduled package opening. Where is Tilly when I need her? Oh yeah, she’s not due back from the Pole til sometime tomorrow morning.
Why am I looking so haggard, you might be asking? I’ll tell you why…
The babe’s woke me up early, that’s why!
Just after the sun peaked over the ridge this morning, they all began marching about the tree with little signs above their heads, and making an awful racket!
They were apparently voicing their disapproval of having to wait til tomorrow for present opening time! In what was meant to be a song I think, they all started shouting out their little demands… over and over and over again. I have to give them an “E” for effort, because they haven’t stopped sing/shouting for a good bit, now. I keep hearing things like, “all day long, we’ll yell this song”, and “it’s not fair to keep secrets!”
You can tell by the way they’re shouting the song that it’s supposed to be a serious song, but when they sing a “Boo Hoo” chorus in between each verse, I start giggling…
I’m sorry, but when you hear all of their little voices boo hooing in unison, it’s nothing less than A..DOR..A..BLE!
Well… I best finish this cup of coffee and get to it! I have a sneaking suspicion that it’s gonna be a very long day.
You know how I’ve been going on about puppies? Well, it suddenly occurred to me that even if I can’t have an actual puppy at the moment, what I can do is create a virtual one… why not, right?!
No need to clean up poo doo, no complaints from the neighbors, and no weighty expenses for all its needs!
So, I thought you might join me in the creation of our lobby’s first furry version of a greeter… you know, like Walmart but better!
Anyways, the first thing one should consider is the look of said greeter. I know that I want a miniature Dachshund of the silky variety…
And yes… it should be oh so fluffy! I would love the color to be that of the creamy vanilla kind, beings that I love coffee and all.
Ok… perfect!
Honestly, I wouldn’t even mind if there were some accent colors…
That’s awful cute, don’t ya think?
Now comes the hard part! Remember how I said that if I were to have a boy, his name could be Gabriel, and if it were a girl, I could call her Bailey? This is the part where we have to choose a boy or a girl…. ughghghghghgh… so hard!
I’m sort of stuck here, folks! I would honestly love to hear your opinions on our choice here, so I can’t move forward until that has been determined.
I will say that if it is a girl, she will have her own little blog entries’ called Bailey’s Daily (puppy fashion critic)…
And if we were to choose a boy, then he would have his little blurbs called Gabe’s Flav’s (puppy food critic)…
Until we make a final decision, I shall be spending some play time with them both… just to be fair.
Seriously, just to be fair…
I’m doing this for you, not me…
The things I’m willing to do for this community… I sure hope everyone knows how much I’m willing do… the sacrifice… the agony of effort… sheesh!
Ya ya ya… I know… I have puppy on the brain after this last weekend! You’re gonna have to put up with this for a few days, I fear. Sorry, not sorry…
The dog images should hopefully leave the impression with you, of thinking before you act on a thing.
I was watching an episode of Joyce Meyers the other day, and something she said stuck with me, regarding God’s guidance. There are times when we are about to say something, we might hear God whisper, “you don’t need to say that”, and when Joyce went on to talk about whether we listen to him or not, I felt like she was looking right at me through the television screen!
I’ve been studying a great deal about wisdom and thinking before I say things, lately. This chatty wordsmith has a tendency to say too much, or talk at the wrong time, so I’m a work in progress. I hope this satisfies the prompt.
As to the prompt question this morning, what I would love for others to say about me might sound something like this…
Is she here yet? Is she here? Where? Oh,Oh! I see her, I see her! Here she comes, here she comes! (giggling, jumping, and high-pitched squeals erupt)
I love, love, love children, babies… and puppies! No, this doesn’t have anything to do with anything! Dont ask me why, but this is what popped right into my brain when I read the prompt.
