Spoons…

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite game (card, board, video, etc.)? Why?

Nothing like combining a card game with some WWF Smack Down!

I loved it when the players head’s would knock together, when they reached for the spoons at the same time!

And, forget any friendly relations among neighbors. When it came down to that last spoon… someone was going to lose an eye!

Here, have a cookie…

No need to put somebody’s eye out!

I’ve got more…

It’s Too Hot…

Daily writing prompt
What foods would you like to make?

Honestly, when it’s so hot during the summertime, we generally eat cold sandwiches, finger foods that have been chilled, and drink lots of juice, using frozen fruit for the ice cubes.

I can spend hours chilling the RV down with our fans, and in one single use of a toaster oven or even the air fryer, we end up back where we started, having to cool things down all over again!

While I am quite capable of making a vast number of foods, the prompt only asked what foods I would LIKE to make. In this heat, I would not like to make anything, so I shall respond as the Cat In the Hat would…

I do not want to cook

No I do not!

I would not like to cook

Because it is hot!

No cooking in toasters

No baking in fryers

The only thing hot cooking does

Is turn me into a crier!

I will not cook it

I’m simply unable

I will eat it raw

Once it thaws out on my table!

Just sayin!

Here, have a cookie…

Thursday Thoughts…

So, my hubby is taking me on an adventure tomorrow!

Tomorrow through Sunday is the Bite of Seattle, and the weather is supposed to be beautiful and hot for the whole weekend!

It’s been years since I made the foray into the city, looking to stuff my face with all that food! Since we can take the train into the city now, successfully avoiding the parking nightmare, and all the cost associated with parking said automobile, I’m ready to go!

I feel somewhat like Templeton, the night before he went to the fairgrounds with Wilbur and Charlotte.

Food, glorious food!

Well, I best get to googling where all of the best munchies are, and what the train schedule is for tomorrow.

I’m so excited! I wonder if it’s like when you prep for a hot dog eating contest… should I eat today, or not? Hmmmm… I think that if Phil Rosenthal, from Somebody Feed Phil, can be as skinny as he is and eat like a rhinoceros whenever he visits a city, then so can I!

I shall be posting pic’s with no words on the morrow, since we are planning to get an early start. I promise to take lots of pic’s of our adventure, along with all the food we eat.

Happy Thursday to everyone… hugs!

Take Your Pick…

Daily writing prompt
Dogs or cats?

All I can say is that a dog will pee on your pillow, when he is unhappy with you, and your cat would happily eat your face, if it found you incapacitated.

While both are equally adorable, they are also passive aggressive and underhanded, when they choose to do so.

So, take your pick… choose your poison…

In the end, it’s not so much which pet you pick… it’s more about the way you treat them!

Just sayin…

Here, have a cookie…

Take your pick!

Wednesday Words…

It’s Take Your Camel To Work day!

Eustace brought his family to share with anyone that forgot to bring their own.

Just let him know if you prefer one hump, or two…

You Startled Me…

Daily writing prompt
Which activities make you lose track of time?

Pardon me, but you gave me a start! I was just lost in my coffee with cream this morning, until this prompt popped up! What a surprise it gave me, nearly causing me to spill the beans… lolololololol!

Come on, admit it!

That was funny!

I can’t believe that I get to say this…

Get lost…

In some cookies, that is!

Lessons Along the Way…

As I walk along the river each day, it offers a great deal of time for me to reflect on things. Whether it be a story, a struggle, or a situation out of my control, I usually have a lot to think about.

Sometimes, however, a thing will pop into my mind that doesn’t have anything to do with any of the above mentioned topics! I call these thoughts, God’s lessons along the way. He shows me something, and then reveals His perspective, allowing me to learn something insightful about the world in which we live.

Today, I saw two trees along my walk, one on either side of the trail, and both within sight of the other. The tree on the left side of the trail had scorch marks covering its lower half, from a fire someone started last year, trying to use the tree as a homemade firepit. The tree seems to be growing fine and thriving, regardless of the damage done to it, with bright green leaves and branches eagerly reaching toward the sun. On the right side of the trail there is another tree, but this one looked far different from the first. This one didn’t have any scorch marks, or any other visible damage for that matter, but half of this tree seemed to be dying, showing no apparent growth, on nearly half its branches. No leaves of any kind grow upon the dry, dead wood, leaving the tree to look weak and sickly. The one tree showed obvious trauma, and yet it grows strong, while the other just seems to be withering from some unseen sickness.

It occurs to me that humans seem like those trees, sometimes. If we see someone whose been traumatized by no fault of their own, but they rise above it to become stronger, we say, “Wow! They’re so strong to have overcome that, it’s just wonderful how they survived. Good for them!” Yet, when we see someone who seems to be suffering, but we don’t see the cause, we back away from them out of confusion, or fear of something we don’t fully understand.

It’s always easier to cheer for the overcomer, than to sit in the gutter with the lost, weak, and/or misunderstood souls, who are being destroyed from the inside out! I’m no better than any other person who might judge another out of ignorance or self-righteousness. None of us are above these tendencies. Being that we are all human, this means that we all suffer with similar human frailties. Everything we see is based on human understanding, not God’s!

While we will always struggle with these things, until we get home that is, it’s OK! God’s Got Us! Rather than feeling depressed about the trees or us, for that matter, I’m left feeling eternally grateful!

The One who tends both the tree on the left and the tree on the right, loves each tree equally! Who knows, maybe the only difference between the trees, was the desire to live!

Just sayin…

It’s Only Monday…

Daily writing prompt
What bothers you and why?

Dirty cards, WordPress, dirty cards…

Everyone knows that you don’t ask about how bothered a person is… ON A MONDAY!

What bothers me is the fact that WordPress asked me an annoying question on a Monday, of all days!

Wisdom dictates that negative questioning should be done on Saturdays! Folks have slept off their Friday, and don’t have to grumble about the next week, at least until Sunday night.

Think, Daily Prompt, think!

Here, have a cookie…

Monday Message…

Maybe we should laugh more…

I think it’s supposed to be good for us, or something like that.

I’m Sticking With Just One…

Daily writing prompt
List 10 things you know to be absolutely certain.

As far as I know, there are no guarantees or certainties about anything, beyond birth and death!

That just doesn’t seem to make me feel better, at all!

I’m going with the one answer that I’m willing to stake my very soul upon, Jesus came… he died… and he rose again!

I refuse to live by fear!

I choose to live by faith!

There is only one way to the Father, an that is through his son Jesus Christ!

Jesus walks with me, he talks with me, and he tells me that I am His own!

Oh, Wait! I just gave you 11 things…. hmmmmm, that was easier than I thought it would be.

Just sayin…

Here, have a cookie… or ten!
