Barnyard Business…

Messages…

When I opened the barn door this morning, there were babes running around everywhere, squealing in excitement about something, of which I had yet to understand. That is, for all of about 15 seconds!

I heard some very important words rise up from all the chaos…

Above the ruckus, came the familiar names of both Tilly and Squagon, put to song, as they danced about the room. Then the entire barn would switch from that song, over into songs about Christmas, oddly enough!

Looking about, I spied miss Tilly over in the corner of the room, turning in circles with a dreamy look upon her face.  As for everyone else, well, they were all taking turns at climbing on a hay bale, for a chance to be flown around the barn… and by none other than, guess who?

Boomer, that’s who!

He must have learned to fly, at some point…

Most probably, while being launched over the pond last week, Boomer has now figured out how to do exactly that… fly!

All I could do for several moments, was stand there in the middle of the barn watching, with my mouth hanging open in surprise. Thankfully, the babes were only being flown around inside the barn, and safely above the hay that’s covering the floor. Boomer isn’t strong enough to carry his friends for long, before loosing his grip and dropping them.

*Note to self* set up some barn rules about flying, especially with each other!

As I got my bearings, what with all the goings on in the room, I noticed both Brutus and our Lilly, sitting quietly in the midst of everything… simply waiting for things to settle down.

Brutus sat holding two pieces of mail, with miss Lilly balanced upon his shoulder wearing my favorite reading glasses.  No, ants don’t usually need glasses, but you know miss Lilly, always doing things her own way.  She looked adorable, I must say!

Anyway, after untangling Dinky from one of my legs and baby Maurgarite from the other, I made my way across the room to collect the letters that had caused all the morning’s excitement.  Taking the messages from Brutus, I saw that the first had come from Pinion Valley, and the second was actually from the North Pole… No wonder the barn was up in arms!

I, myself, was taken aback at the letter from Santa. Not only am I nowhere near ready for Christmas, as of yet, but the letter wasn’t even addressed to me… it was addressed to Tilly!

I hadn’t even considered that Santa would call on my tiny friend again, after delivering her to the barn just this last spring! It hasn’t even been a year since she arrived, and the thought of her leaving already, well, I just can’t imagine it!

Thankfully, after reading the entire letter from Santa, he’s just borrowing Tilly for the delivering of gifts to those chimneys that are too small for him, which does make a great deal of sense, I suppose. Santa made it clear that Tilly would only be gone from the barn for several days, just before Christmas. The elves need to make the final adjustments on her outfit, along with the tiny safety belt being installed in Santa’s sleigh… you know how important details are to the elves. They’re even giving her a quick elf-in-training class, which they offer each year in the workshop.

At the end of the letter, Santa assured me that Tilly would be home by Christmas morning, with plenty of time for opening gifts. Everyone knows that Santa keeps his promises, so I see nothing to worry about, really. Tilly will be in good hands.

Placing the letter back into it’s envelope, I handed it to miss Tilly, since it did belong to her, after all.

The second letter came from Pinion Valley, from the Royal House, itself! Shakily, I opened the letter…

It was an official letter, inviting me to attend Squagon’s first ceremony of Royal Robes (classes on how to behave as a Prince). Brutus and I will be flying to Pinion Valley on Saturday night, so that we might enjoy the festivities of their Royal Nut Festival… it’s the banquet being given in Squagon’s honor!

Sunday, after the ceremony has finished, Brutus and I will have the whole of the afternoon to spend with Squagon, freely.  I can’t wait! I miss Squagon so much that I’m not sure I’ll be able to sleep a wink til then…

No wonder the barn has been partying all morning!

If Boomer were bigger and stronger, I would join the babes on that silly hay bale, hoping to catch a ride!

Fortunately, for all our sakes, I won’t be doing that… I’ll just give piggy back rides for now. My dragon ride will have to wait for Saturday night!

It’s Been 8 Years… Already?

I’ll be fully honest in sharing that I’m wearing a bit thin on the passion for words, of late. It is always darkest before dawn, God gently reminds me.

In the midst of the chaos of homelessness, came the anniversary of this website… 8 years!?

Since I had nothing to offer for today’s post anyways, I thought perhaps a look back might encourage my heart… and surprisingly, it did!

I found my very first post for this site, and decided to share it for anyone who might be interested in reading it. I realize that it isn’t thanksgiving yet, which is surprising, given that I struggle to know what day of the week it is, without looking at the calendar. So, consider the well wishes at the end of the post, sort of like an early blessing to you and your family this season.

While there is much that I’m choosing not to disclose, for your sakes, regarding our current situation… know that I am safe in God’s arms. Though my writings, of late, have been rather disjointed and somewhat fragmented, I’m eternally grateful for your loving support. They say that writing is extremely important in processing and handling our thoughts and emotions, and I couldn’t agree more at the moment! No matter what, I need to keep writing… anything really, as long as it is edifying and with loving intent.

You may not realize it, but the time spent on this site with all of you is so very important to me; your posts, your pictures, and your stories… they bring me comfort!

For this I thank each and every one of you, my sweet friends, for Journey With Me wouldn’t be worth the doing, if it weren’t for you!

God Bless you, all of you, and know that I love you with the love of God… and also with cookies!

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha……..

Daily writing prompt
Do you trust your instincts?

Are you kidding?! I absolutely do NOT trust my own instincts, which have gotten this girl into more trouble…

I was sure I knew what I was doing, and where I was going.

When things didn’t feel like they were right or I realized the direction was wrong, instinct told me to bury the errors and just keep going, which only took me down another wrong path…

When God pointed out my predicaments, my instinct was to argue my case and continue trying to do things my way!

If I have learned one thing through all of it… it’s that I can ONLY do all things through Christ, who strengthens me! My instincts are not and will never be enough to navigate this thing we all call life.

Instincts get surrendered to God every single morning, for this recovering runaway. The new rule of thumb is to seek the council of God throughout the whole of my day. Scripture warns NOT to lean on our own understanding, and I’m learning to listen!

Just sayin…

Truthful Tuesday…

While selecting an image for this morning’s post, I had an epiphany, of sorts…

Sometimes, we get stuck in a miracle rut! You know, thinking of miracles as a singular earth shattering occurrence that all can be amazed at, in only an instant!

One might think that the miracle for this little girl, occurred over 40 years ago, upon a darkened highway, but you’d be wrong…

…she was!

God, in only his wisdom, is now revealing the true miracle of that lost child, within the woman you see before you…

She could be a stranger, or perhaps not… it might be you, a family member or friend… anyone really!

God’s held onto my stubborn heart down many long highways,

pursued this wanderer through the wastelands of her own making,

removing detours, repairing breakdowns and healing wounds I thought would be my undoing…

and He loves me, unconditionally!

Just believe!

His miracles will reveal themselves upon the horizon of each new morning, if we will do this one simple thing… believe!

Epiphany = Each and every human soul’s miracles have been in the journey this whole time!!!

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite month of the year? Why?

Use your heart, use your eyes,

Look for meaning between my lines,

If you know me then you know the answer,

If you have me figured out, go on and give it a gander.

Have a cookie while you think…

for into your brain, the answer might sink.

Today…

Give over your worries

Cast off your fears

and let go of yesterdays

for they are no longer changeable…

Receive today as such a gift

Live it like you’ll never see it again

Love it like you could lose it

and hope for a beautiful tomorrow…

Trade your worries

your sorrows

and all of your fears,

for a hope and a bright future…

He who is so much more than you can ever imagine

Will fulfill his promise to us, in us, and for us…

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Sleepy Sunday…

I had such lofty thoughts and snappy come-backs for this mornings postings… until 2 a.m. rolled around, and what felt like every stupid childhood adventure injury began to ache, waking me from my dreamy slumber.

I’ve been up ever since…

While I may be all bleary eyed and a bit loopy, in the end it was worth it!

Wanna know why? I wish to pretend that you did, indeed, just ask me that question, so I can keep talking… or typing, if we’re to be literal about it.

Anyway, I’m glad I wasn’t able to go back to sleep, because it gave me a chance to spend time with my husband, even if it was just watching dumb things on the television. Lately, he’s either been asleep when I’m awake, or over at the college in one of the computer labs. He does his study work in the middle of the night, while I sleep.

The man burns his candles at both ends these days, what with trying to gain a degree, while simultaneously attempting to handle the overwhelming number of things that go with being homeless with a wife who can’t work… no fun.

Yet, he gets up and does what needs doing each and every morning, without a word of judgement, or complaint. He has always been a quiet man, stoic and reserved… to some he might even be seen as hardened. Behind the wall, however, is a treasure trove of love, tenderness and such generosity of heart! Once you know it’s there, you cannot help but to adore the man. Don’t get me wrong, he can most certainly drive me to distraction… but for the love of Pete (whoever that is), I simply can’t stay mad at him!

I know this post has little to do with anything of value, but what could any of us expect? I feel rather accomplished to have even gotten this far, to be honest. I will end this mushy, sappy, sleepy mumblefest that I got going on here, by saying that I am very grateful for the gift of my husband’s love.

I haven’t even looked at the daily prompt yet, so be wary, my friends… lol!

As Forrest Gump says (sorta), Today’s prompt answer will be like a box of chocolates, who knows what you’re gonna get!

Just sayin…
