My head is in the clouds…

Daily writing prompt
What personal belongings do you hold most dear?

You might expect me to say that my bible is the most dear personal possession, but as scripture is the living breathing word of God, I can’t really say it’s mine, can I?

What about my children, aren’t they mine? Nope! They were each a personal gift of God, meant only to be watched over, guided and prayed for… but not really mine if you think about it.

Beings as I’m fresh off the homeless train, my list of personal items is fairly scant. All the pictures, keepsakes and special belongings… all gone!

In scripture it says that if we delight ourselves in God, he will give us the desires of our hearts. I suppose that it means something different to whomever is reading that passage. As for me, well I’ve got quite a collection of personal belongings stored up in heaven, where my eternal home awaits me… God promises in scripture that a place is being prepared just for me when I get home.

The glorious thing about things of the spirit… they cannot be taken from us, ever! My name was written in the book of life before the world was even created!

I’m clinging to the promises held deep inside my heart… a place where God dwells!

Instead of thinking on what possessions I can hold dear, instead, I shall dwell on being the possession that God holds most dear to His heart… ya, I’ll go with that.

The Archives…

Daily writing prompt
Do you have any collections?

I’ve scads of literary collections within my archives, some memories, some anecdotes, and a great deal of recipes. Well, I have to keep everyone satisfied with delicious things to eat, don’t I?!

Life hasn’t really offered the space to keep collectable anything, these days. The wonderful thing about technology is that you can fill a tiny little piece of plastic with loads of virtual collections. Everything from visual collections (pictures), written collections (books and letters), and tons of musical playlists can be tucked away in the drawer of your desk.

Early on, I began writing things down in a journal. I suppose that I was drawn toward being a writer from the beginning. When I was small, I would write letters to myself, pretending to be whoever my hero was at the time. I think I needed to feel seen, you know? Later in life, I started writing down memories, letters and thoughts to my daughters from the time of their births.

I didn’t realize the importance of those journals until years later, when my daughters were grown, becoming mothers to their own little ones. I realize it now!

If you look within the archives, they will be filled with some of the most precious of those memories and stories. I’m so thankful that I wrote down so many things over the years, tucking them away in my bedside drawer… and also my heart!

It’s now more important than ever that I keep writing out the stories and memories, since those journals were all lost or destroyed in the getting here… the journey has been arduous, to say the least!

God bless those little plastic chips, as I’ve a drawer full of my life’s most precious collections.

Not Mine…

Daily writing prompt
What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

Being a light in the darkest of places requires a powerful source… and it ain’t mine!

Walking in shadows to find the lost calls for strength and courage that only comes from my creator!

My own light is quite weak when I try to fuel it without the proper oil… Holy oil, that is!

I, myself, have gotten lost repeatedly when trying to traverse the shadows by my own strength… and my courage always failed me when I sought to do things on my own.

The only legacy that should remain in my absence? It was never mine to begin with, as I am merely His vessel!

When I was given grace, it blossomed into something much more than I shall ever be… true forgiveness, purpose, mercy, love, and a desire to further His kingdom!

You want a legacy? Here’s one that should last into eternity…

“With what shall I come before the lord

and bow down before the exalted God?

Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,

with calves a year old?

Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,

with ten thousand rivers of oil?

Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression,

the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

He has showed you, O man, what is good.

And what does the Lord require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Micah 6:6-8

Feelings, nothing more than feelings…

Daily writing prompt
How do you feel about cold weather?

How one might feel about cold weather has a lot to do with where their sitting, I suppose.

Sitting inside would feel much warmer than sitting outside, for instance…

Then again, it has a great deal to do with what one’s wearing while in the cold weather, right?!

For instance…

Scales can actually be more effective than fur, when it comes to really cold weather.

Brrrrrrr!

Now, when it comes to how one feels on the inside… well, it all depends on what you eat…

Have you ever broken a bone?

From as early as I can remember, I’ve always worked very hard at whatever job I’m given… and I play just as hard, if not harder!

When you play hard, chances are that you’re going to take some hard hits… but hey, you only live once, right?!

I’ve face planted into the dash of a motor vehicle, breaking my nose. I’ve slammed full tilt into a water barrel while riding a horse, chipping the bone just below the knee of my left leg. My pant leg caught on the tire of a three wheeler, sucking me underneath and then running me over… no broken bones there, just injured pride. Blew out one knee while chopping down a great big Holly tree, and blew out the other while playing in the snow.

And, as Barney sings, “the list goes on and on, my friend”. Since I’m fairly certain that you don’t give a flying tire about how many injuries I’ve had, broken bone or not, let’s focus on something better…

Cookies, of course!

Scales…

Daily writing prompt
How do you balance work and home life?

The answer is in the question, silly WordPress! Balance is the answer, in and of itself. What’s in the baskets will depend on the one doing the balancing. The key to the balancing is to choose the correct set of scales!

Look for quality, longevity, and any and all perks available with your purchase. Watch out for companies that cut corners with cheap product and shoddy manufacturing. They will look pretty, but will break after the first couple of uses.

Remember, if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is!

Go with a reputable company, preferably one that’s been around for a good long while. And do your research! Ask around for testimonials from those who previously purchased quality scales. This way, you are sure to find the set of scales that were meant just for you.

I found mine, and I promise that you will too. And I’ll stand on their quality til my last breath! I’ve had mine for as long as I can remember. At times, I’ve abused them, misplaced them, or downright put them away so I could try to do things my way. But I’ve still got them… and they look as good as they did when I first received them. If you’d like to, you can use my testimony and referral to where I got mine if you’re in the market to buy a quality set of scales. I’d be happy to tell you where I got them from… you know, who the manufacturer is, and all.

Until such time, we shall bake cookies…

My Peepers…

Daily writing prompt
What’s the oldest things you’re wearing today?

Peepers… eyeballs… the windows to your soul… whatever you wish to call them, is entirely up to you.

Everyone has them, everyone takes them for granted, and everyone hopes they keep working right.

You can use them, abuse them, or hide them from others… but they go wherever you go…

I know that right this moment, they’ve picked out a glaringly obvious grammatical error in this ridiculous prompt!

If you wish to know more than one, prompt writer, shouldn’t you be using What’re rather than What’s?

Just sayin!

How bout them cookies…

It’s all in the bake…

Daily writing prompt
Are you a leader or a follower?

Being either a leader or a follower is somewhat like knowing when to add sugar or salt, flour or water. In the end, what you want is a cake that tastes good AND looks good, right?!

It’s been said that to lead, one must first learn to follow. It’s also been said that to get you have to give, to speak well means to listen well, and to do a job well you have to learn the job in the first place… ok, that last one is maybe just one I made up but it seemed fitting.

Anyhow, we are all capable of leading when it’s truly needed, as well as the following bit!

Just follow the instructions on the back of the box, or in my case, what’s in the pages of scripture… just sayin!

List your top 5 favorite fruits.

When I picked out my favorite fruits for this prompt, none of them seemed to be too thrilled about it! It was all I could do to get them to sit in the same bowl together, and the fussing and crying was more than I could take… so I just ate them!

I’ll spare you the visuals of the mess I made, but I will say that it was rather shameful… banana peels, mango skins, and a pile of those little green tops to my strawberries lay mixed into a pile of mango and peach skins. That’s all that remains in the bowl now.

Oh well! In honor of those that were lost, I baked some cookies to make it all better…

Hush…

Daily writing prompt
What’s one small improvement you can make in your life?

When I say shush, I don’t mean for you to shush. I mean for myself to shush… in answer to the prompt, of course!

As far as one small improvement that I can make in my own life, I would have to say that it’s listening more than speaking. Well, I might actually learn a thing or two, ya know?!

Oh, and I should probably start baking larger batches of cookies for everybody…

Yup! We definitely need more cookies!
