Saturday Happenings…

We’re going to check out the new chicken coop that my daughter and her fiancé are building in their back yard.

I can only imagine what the dog’s will think? They have four dogs, so at least nothing will be dumb enough to climb the fence, looking for dinner!

Happy Saturday, folks… hugs

Right now???

Daily writing prompt
Interview someone — a friend, another blogger, your mother, the mailman — and write a post based on their responses.

There has been far too little notice for me to successfully complete this prompt!

They want me to interview someone on a Friday morning? Ok, WordPress… you got me!

I feel so unprepared for this interview, as I’m still in my pajamas and only a third way through my first cup of coffee… not to mention the fact that I haven’t even had my morning trail walk… sheesh!

Well, here goes,

…ummm, we may have a problem finding a suitable candidate for this set-up.

You see, at the moment, it’s only seven in the morning so my options are limited. Let me explain,

With my solitary lifestyle (not by choice), I don’t have a list of selectable folks. My hubby is sleeping so he’s a no-go, and my sweet friend is already at her job. I’ve no mother, no brother, no sister or mailman. My children are absent, no more pets even live in our RV.

The mail hasn’t run, yet, so my local letter carrier is off the hook!

The only other interviewee’s available around here, are either the cheeky squirrel who boldly demands peanuts each day, or the ants who think all my food can be carried away!

While I refuse to exchange any further words with the pushy insects, and my peanut eating squirrel hasn’t arrived yet, I’m opting for the river. Maybe I’ll run into one of the Raven brothers, or wouldn’t it be wonderful if I could run into Bill or Netty Pottsworth. I know that I could get an earful from Netty… she’s always good for gossip, at least.

Well, I’m off… wish me luck!

Oh, and here…

Maybe the cookies have our answers…

Thursday Thoughts…

The Calls of Fall

I hear Fall calling,

soon the leaves will start falling…

Children are returning to school,

and the air is beginning to cool…

Book clubs and fundraisers,

Potlucks and hay mazes…

Picking out pumpkins and costumes,

door to door by the light of the moon…

Fluffy sweaters and slippers,

keeping warm by the fire,

Hot cider and long movies,

to watch til we tire…

I hear you calling, my friend

It’s been too long…

Welcome back Fall!

Well? They asked…

Daily writing prompt
How are you feeling right now?

I feel so flattered that someone asked, and now that they have… I feel a song coming on,

You’re Welcome!

I hope you didn’t think I would forget the cookies…

Daily writing prompt
What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

Soap and Water

Whether cold, or hotter

Makes me feel cleaner

and a little less meaner

Scrub the dirt

Wash off the grime

One can easily do it

in only a little time

If your fingers feel sticky

from too much sugar or dirt

A little soap or suds

certainly wouldn’t hurt!

Here’s a cookie. I know that they look like soap, but their actually those little marshmallow filled cookies, I swear…

Don’t forget to wash your hands…

Wednesday Words…

Next year, if you want to win the company picnic’s relay race… you should bring your own camel!

Eustace and I are very tough competition!

Daily writing prompt
What was the last thing you searched for online? Why were you looking for it?

Noop!!! Nunya!!! Not yo bitness!

Sorry, that was an extremely childish response to an extremely intrusive and ridiculously probative inquiry being asked by nothing more than a rolodex style revolving question prompter. With all the undesirables out there, looking for a way into my site, I’m just not about to hold the door open for them.

Just sayin…

I will offer some free cookies…

Food for thought?!

Riddle Me This…

I went to meet with the raven brothers,

Five of them there be…

I had some important questions,

about the Acorn King…

Instead of answering me in words,

A singing response they gave me…

This particular group of ravens,

Is a troupe of Gospel Singers, you see…

I asked them where the King had gone,

and the answer they called out as one…

was not what I expected to hear,

and I left with more questions than when I’d begun:

The Acorn King

by The Holy Rollin Raven’s

Once there was a great squirrel, you see

one day a great king, they knew he’d be.

But his heart grew cold, when his pockets began to fill

He forced all within the valley

to pay for all his expenses, and honor all his bills.

One day the squirrel banished his only grandson,

To the countryside far beyond his great hall…

but, the cruelty and rejection dealt to the babe,

will now become the king’s downfall!

The squirrels of acorn valley,

have been taken far away,

and until the king learns his lesson,

that’s where they all will stay…

I’m going to be pondering the meaning of the words to this song for a time, I think, in order to understand what it meant. If you have any ideas, I would love the help with this particular song… riddle… singy thingie. If you can come up with anything, I would be incredibly grateful, not to mention how much Squagon will appreciate any help.

Thanks

Oh, Hey… It’s a Rerun about Reruns…

Daily writing prompt
What TV shows did you watch as a kid?

If the daily prompt question is a repeat from last year, that would make it a rerun, of sorts.

If that’s true, then my answer would also be considered a form of a rerun, as well.

With that in mind, I’ll just say that I watched a great amount of Disney, Hee Haw, The Muppet Show, and Wild Kingdom. There ya have it, folks… the answer that you’ve all been waiting for, I’m sure.

Here’s a cookie for your time…
