Investigating Truths…

Just a Bag Cont’d

**Before you is a table, resting beneath a lamppost!  The soft glow cast from the lantern, falls upon a note, held in place by a small Ivory figurine.   Pulling the note from beneath the small object, your eyes are drawn to the message…

Welcome… all of you who are here to lend your aid…  I believe we are ready to begin this great adventure!  I have given you as much preparation as I can from here.  The rest will be up to you.  Since I already have my bag, and have no need to pack it, I have gone down the path ahead to prepare our first meeting place.  I will await your arrival, as I am sure you will need a few days to prepare your bag.  Please do not be alarmed by my absence, and trust that I will be waiting for you just inside the forest, down this path.  Look for me where the path crosses the river, just beyond this valley…

*Tip 1*  I actually got out my colored pencils and drew a picture of my bag.  I am a visual learner, so I reinforced the picture in my mind by the act of doing (drawing it).  I would suggest you try this as well, but only a suggestion.

*Tip2*  Ask questions!  Help me help you have fun with this!  Treat this like your mental vacation, provided to you by Imaginary Air!

*Tip3*  If this is a vacation, Relax!  I will do all the mental driving, but I really do wish for you to ask me questions, as they will be shaping the direction our adventure takes!

*Tip4*  I recommend you get to know each other before departing, to ensure you feel a growing sense of TEAM, so to speak.  Being aware of who wishes to help, and where, is vital in building a solid foundation to this endeavor!

I am sure that you are excited to depart, and you might be wondering why you are still milling about the lobby. All that I can tell you is that I was given 3 messages to gather all that are needed. It is not for me to question, but rather, to prepare you and trust in your patience… No one gets left behind, remember, we are only as fast as the slowest members…

What strategies do you use to increase comfort in your daily life?

Comfort you say….

LOLOL…

Ok, I am finished laughing at the thought of comfort…

Seriously, I only laughed at the thought of trying to make comfort out of the level of poverty we have come through and the continued clawing effort my husband puts in, ALONE, to try and pull us out of the pit that life’s circumstances put us in…

In truth, it has been the BEST horrible, exhausting, devastatingly painful journey EVER! At least for me, that is…the learning to let go of things I thought were so important, things I thought I HAD to have…

With those days far distant from the here and now, we are incredibly comfortable… you know why… because we spent so long and still do sometimes, having to choose between toilet paper or laundry quarters… that’s the real stuff of life. But it is not a complaint I want to leave anyone with… it is encouragement!

When things seem so incredibly impossible, that’s the place where God ALWAYS shows up… I have never gone even one day without some form of edible food. My husband and I live to the best of our ability, to appreciate each and everything we receive, and we care for it more so because we do not have the assurance that it can be easily replaced… ergo our refrigerator debacle.

And let me tell you, when you go without your creamer for a week and have to smile through black coffee, for me this is borderline criminal behavior… When that creamy French Vanilla swirls magically as you pour it in, you are as excited as a kid at the gate to Disneyland.

My point is this… if we try too hard to focus on what will make us more comfortable, we waste a lot of beautiful opportunities to appreciate the One who provides everything that we enjoy. We are also more likely to argue with Him when we are expected to share with others in need.

I highly doubt that even I would feel brave enough to ask this gentleman what strategies he uses to increase his comfort…

Maybe I should just guess and show up with a few things that might help…

**P.S. Let’s leave these cookies here just in case there is anyone out there who reads this post and really could use a virtual hug (cookie)…

That Fast…

So… my husband nearly blew himself up several days ago… ya, no time for a back up plan kind of accident…

Remember our refrigerator went out and we had to get a new replacement… no worries… Visanni is OK! Long story short, while disconnecting from the old lines, he inadvertently punctured the Freon tank and it exploded in his face. By the grace of God alone, he is ok, other than smelling ammonia everywhere he goes. The part that rattled him the most was how fast it happened. He had no time to “adjust” to the situation… it was instant!!! That was how fast it happened and then it was done! Sometimes, there just are no contingency plans; no chance for a do over, or an undo button, if you will.

Aside from being eternally grateful that my husband is fine and God had him covered, I was left with a fresh reminder how very precious life is, and that there are NO guarantees. It can be so easy to become complacent or lazy regarding the time we are given, and what we do with it. Oddly enough, instead of feeling panicked that I had some list of unfinished good deeds, I felt no fear at all.

Point in fact, I felt encouraged to press on down the path set before me, knowing that I have full opportunity to do good every single day until I am called home. I have assurance of my future, no matter how much time is left in the here and now. I am choosing to not be shortsighted… I wanna go big till I go home!

I have also learned from this experience, that I do not kiss my husband nearly enough every day, and now I have made it my mission to pester him all the time with kisses, and more I love you’s, just to make sure he don’t fergit!!!

In Good Hands…

What are you most excited about for the future?
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future..." Jeremiah 29:11

My excitement comes from not having to figure this ole world out myself. The One who came before me, has prepared the way home for me… I need only look up and follow the path… whew!

I am excited because of each and every other soul that stops into this virtual lobby of mine. My future, until I get home, is here in this lobby with you sweet fellow journeyers… sharing love, encouragement, and hope. You might not think this to be a big deal, but for me it’s very important. If I am a part of the body of Christ, and my gifts are writing, and being empathetic to those who I encounter each day, well I guess you all are my church, and this lobby is where I serve God… by serving you… the only way I can… with love…

If you are ever in need of someone to just love you for YOU… please stop by for a chat or a read from my silly stories, and stay as long as you like… the door is always open, and I am only a whisper away…

No I am not a stalker, maybe just a shut in that talks way too much to squirrels… but my heart is as true as you will ever find… because it is not actually mine… I gave it to God and He upgraded it!

Sorry, that dog ate your cookies leg… just dry off the sticky part and I think it should still be ok…

Do You Remember…

I once accidentally stuck a straw up my nose while batting my eyelashes at some guy… I’m not kidding! I was like 14 and I was sitting on a stool in a restaurant, trying to impress some guy across the room, by looking at him with my eyes as I leaned down to take drink from my glass… that’s what happens when we try doing something without looking first…

The straw did not find my delicately glossed lips… no no… it went directly up my left nostril, which caused me to jerk involuntarily, which poked me again…

Needless to say, he cracked up at the sight, while I spilled my pop all over my lap, while my right eye was tearing so badly, that I had mascara running down my cheek (I discovered this when I went to wash up)…

Look before you leap ladies…

Money Money Money Money…

What could you let go of, for the sake of harmony?

All we have to do is read the statistics on this one, and I actually agree for the most part…

Money is most often found at the heart of strife…

Divorce… Money

WAR… Money

Suicide… Money

For me, if I could survive off of trading goods and services, I would… back to a time when a man was good for his word. I know, not too realistic… But a girl can hope, can’t she?

Sorry for no pics this morning… working remote today… 😫

Live Wire…

Sometimes the path ahead seems so clear and easily navigated, right?

On one hand, it is great to have an outcome, in our minds, of positivity to fuel us for the journey.

On the other hand, if we get too distracted with stuff, we get lax about focusing on the path ahead…

Maybe we get a bit too close to the edge of our path, and are not focusing on what we should, so we don’t see hazards before us…

Sometimes, we get so sure of our own abilities, that we are deceived into thinking that a cliff or major fall is no more than an easy step off the edge…

When we are so focused on our feet, and not looking up, we miss all the warning signs that could have signaled us to pay attention…

Perhaps if we pay more attention to the small warning signs, just a bit ahead of us, by simply popping our heads up…

We may find that Looking up was all that it took for us to see clearly the words of truth and safety, placed there to assist…

My verse for the day…

Psalm 25… and yes, all of it! My favorite part, though, is

” Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” vs 4,5.

Bitter Sweet…

Today, we say good bye to Royale, dear sweet fridgy… you served us well, with narry a complaint when things flew against your walls when we drove down the highway… you faithfully held our food, even the smelly stuff in the back that we forgot…

Anyway…

Onward and upward…

Welcome home Vissanni, may you enjoy the life ahead… no more need to cry because nobody loved and wanted you… just because of your scars… I knew when you came through the door, we were going to be fast friends, fast fresh and frozen friends! I don’t mind your scars, as you still chill… hehe… see I am funny…

We Were Cowboys Baby…

Describe your most memorable vacation.

When I was a small girl, we went on a camping trip with about 10 to 15 other families, up into one of the wild mountain ranges of this great country. I was young enough that I cannot place the where, but I remember it being remote, as we had pack mules and horses to ride into our camp. Said camp rested within an upper meadow between two mountain peaks. If my memory serves well enough, it took an entire day of horse back riding to arrive at our destination.

My family and all the others were avid hunters, fishers, and the like so it was a lively bunch of folks. There were a mix of extended family, church friends, and close neighbors within our small city of campers, and man were they organized… it looked like a military fort when they were set up! Large campfires within and around the sleep areas, cooking pits, and tents set up in fashions meant to house children in the center, and adults camped on the outer ring that encircled the little ones during the night.

The reason that I remember this particular trip more so than others is a funny, and somewhat insidious reason… This is where I learned that parents develop that funny gramma and papa sense of humor, by practicing on their children when they are too young to know any better.

Photo by Yoss Traore on Pexels.com

This particular camping trip was at the height of the hunting season, and the Elk were absolutely huge that year; the tags given out had been generous, as the numbers were too high at that time. I want to say that the norm were 5 point bucks. Please don’t judge my ignorant wordage, as I was young, and I have not been hunting since then, so my memory is jaded. Big Big Antlers!

Anyway, it was night time around the fires, and the parents decided it would be a great idea to tell scary stories to the kids… right before bed… in the dark… in the mountains…

I think it started as a way to keep kids scared enough to not wander outside of their tents in the dark without a parent, maybe, but that was when the insidious part began… Cretans…

Photo by Rok Romih on Pexels.com

The story was about a Ghost Elk that haunted the ranges where we were camping… sorry, I can’t remember the story, the horror was too real… lol. Basically, they put us to bed, waited for us to fall nearly to sleep and then play acted like a huge elk with a big rack, hollering and scratching its antlers against our tents…

Which by the way… we were able to only see the antlers through the reflections caused by all those ridiculously big fires placed all around the camp… realization right now, tells me they built those fires for effect, the big Turd Blossoms…

They got their come uppins though, since nobody ended up getting much sleep that night. All the parents ended up having to sleep in our tents to stop all the cryin and bellyaching…

***Lesson to learn here for parents is, with great power comes great responsibility… if you want to torment your children, You should always bring babysitters sillies***

Live Novel Friday… Out in the mental field for service…

While I am collecting the equipment for the next live novel project, which is in the works at the moment, being framed for use basically, since the content comes in live…

Until then, however, feel free to join in on our Investigating Truths thread for a fan fic adventure of truth, if that can even make sense in the same sentence… while I am a storyteller, and an avid writer, I did not claim any level of competence, just a passion. The rest is up to you…

Every Wednesday our adventure will be playing out live for all who are participating… that just means reading… lol… all you have to actually do is show up and share a laugh, or maybe a tear, and/or many many joys to discover. Who knows, you might even make a friend or two along the way… the more the merrier…
