Gotcha…

I know you might think I am going to say Jesus, and yes, for a moment I almost did…

If you could host a dinner and anyone you invite was sure to come, who would you invite?
Photo by Alex Azabache on Pexels.com

I wonder what it must have been like in the time of Jesus and His disciples. Throughout His years of ministering to people Jesus, as well as the disciples, lived by the charity of others… no homes of their own, no beds of their own, and no belongings. There were places that welcomed Jesus and his disciples, and there were places that Jesus shook the dust off of his feet as he left… ummm… trust me, you do not want the lord or those who He sent ahead of himself to shake dust at you… its not good!

Anyway, living on others charity could not have been easy for them, especially after Jesus was crucified and then risen from the dead. The reactions were profound! Some were good and some were bad!

Sure, there were churches beginning to form, due to the dedication of the apostles and all the others who followed and believed in Him. These churches, however, took a lot of time to grow, both in faith and spiritual maturity. I do not envy Paul and the others who sought to teach everyone what God wanted. Sometimes I wonder if it would be more difficult for me to live like the disciples back then, relying on charity and mercy of others for my every need. Then I wonder what it would be like on the other side of things… to be the one offering my home and belongings to them, Jesus and the disciples I mean.

Here is where I found myself after a few moments of pondering the prompt question. Right here, and right now, if a complete stranger came to my door in need, would I let them in? This is a question that can take off down many rabbit holes of what if’s!

Instead, I want you to go easy on yourself, and me for that matter, as I am not about to ask you to bring in some guy off the corner. We do not live like the apostles did. We live in a time where our doors need to be locked, so its not so easy to let a stranger in without sacrificing our personal health and safety, I get it!

So after my ponderings over the prompt and what my answer might be, I thought …

If I could host a dinner, and anyone I invited was sure to come, I would invite everyone who tried to help us when the shut down cost my husband his job, allowed us to be evicted, and left us empty handed and homeless. In the last 3 years, there have been those that reached out to help my husband and I survive, pulling resources that they did not have to give, but they did it anyway. Strange as it might sound, there would be a packed house at my dinner party, but most of them I would not even know personally.

Don’t feel sad… My party is going to be awesome, and there will be so much hugging and laughing among us… whether stranger or friend, God uses us all in different ways to help each other. Sometimes, we do not even know that we did it… it comes down to a matter of the heart. God just wants us willing and able to love and serve others with grace and mercy. He will take care of the rest! I got all the way to the end of this and realized that I guess I DID invite Jesus to dinner… hmmm…

Changes Coming in Acorn Valley…

You are correct in assuming that I have once again spoken with Lady Cordelia, of House Acorn. I am pleased to inform you that I was not pelted with nuts this time. On the contrary, I have been formerly invited to a wedding! They sent an emissary all the way to my RV, bearing an invitation to court…

Since the wedding is a few days away, I can only tell you what I know so far, and then we will all have to wait and see what comes…

Here is what I know…

The bride to be is from House Pinion, I am not sure of their exact location but I believe it to be somewhere south? Her name is Lady Ophelia of House Pinion, a house apparently in high standing among the Squirrel Kingdoms, brought here, to secure alliances between these two great houses…

I know that she is the betrothed of the Acorn Prince, though I am a bit embarrassed that I do not even know his name. I was not about to inquire of his name, as I have already been pelted with peanuts for not behaving in a respectful manner. Why they did not think to put his name on the invitation, is another question I kept to myself. Anyway, I am certain I will ascertain his name in due time…

As for the Lady, I have been blessed with seeing her, and let me tell you… She is a vision…

Lady Ophelia is taller than the other squirrels I have seen here… she has a golden Sable colored coat with a delicate white underbelly. Her head and ears are smooth, bearing the color of deep Amber. When she looked at me, she took me in with a bright and inquisitive manner. She accepted the peanut I offered, not with disdain, but with a quiet and gentle demeaner. She actually nodded respectfully, and left me feeling touched deeply in my heart.

Not only did I find her strikingly beautiful, but there are whisperings all through the valley in regards to the lovely Lady. Everyone is bubbling with excitement and vying for the opportunity to help with the preparations.

I will make every effort to get some photos of the nuptials, but as I am unsure if it will be allowed, I cannot promise anything. Maybe if I am sitting in the back, no one will notice if I take a couple of pictures. Wish me luck…

Daily writing prompt
What do you think gets better with age?

Just as with a fine wine, we must age in order to gain…

Photo by Arthur Brognoli on Pexels.com

With age comes quality, in a wine that is…

The flavor improves, along with the alchohol content and value. The more age and quality of the wine, the more people will want it. One might buy a bottle and then not drink it, hoping to age it more for the best taste.

What about with people…

The similarities to an aging person are kind of interesting. I think people improve in flavor, content, and value as they age… All those years of living produces the sweetest flavors of life. The bruising and crushing that occurs from our own life experiences, results in much of the richness and flavor one might taste. We also can end up on a shelf, stored away for a later date when our experience and wisdom might be useful.

If people can be like wine, that means they can be treasured, valued, and a pleasure to enjoy…

I am nowhere near aged enough to hold the flavors of those that have been bottled before my time. I am fairly confident, however, that when the cork is withdrawn from the barrel of my soul, there is gonna be a party, because I want to be 120 proof baby…

Searching Churching…

Photo by Gabriel Peter on Pexels.com

Guess What??? The Big Man installed a fountain… right in the middle of our lobby! In following with my earlier blogs on the subject of Church, I have begun to see the “lobby” more and more clearly as the place I am calling home.

When my studies began opening up a picture of what I thought church might look like, this lobby is the part of the body that I feel equipped for serving others in, considering myself a hostess. Whether you believe, whether you feel a bit lost, or maybe your just a bit weary on your journey and need a quiet respite to regain your strength for the journey… come on in! I am guessing that this is what the new fountain has been installed for… you, me, your friends, my friends, and all of our families. Aren’t we all supposed to be considering each other as brothers and sisters? I am not capable of dragging souls in off the highway, nor should it be my job.

I simply believe that I am being led to stand fast in said Lobby, to be readily available to you, for prayer, encouragement, hope, and to point you to the table of refreshments, and now to the fountain of life giving hope…

I have no picture as of yet to fully show the magnitude of this fountain, but I will do my best effort in words to describe what I see…

How does one give a description of something that defies the laws of nature, something that is beyond understanding? I will begin by saying that if you were to enter through the lobby entrance, you would be taken aback by the enormity of the fountain in the heart of the room. Before you rests an enormous stone, seemingly buried half way into the floor beneath it. As your eyes look up, you realize that the stone begins to transform into the base of a great tree… reaching all the way to the ceiling of the lobby, it’s branches stretch high and wide, full of lush green, heart shaped leaves. You know the tree is living because there on the floor, all the way around the fountain, are leaves of different colors, due to when they had fallen away from the tree above…

The most mind blowing part of this great fountain, is the pool of water that is held within the center of the rock, inside a tear in the heart of the tree trunk growing out of the great stone! As your wonder and curiosity build, you are drawn closer so as to look within the tree… There you see a hollow space within the lush foliage, where the most beautifully clear water is bubbling up gently, from the stone itself… You may start to feel a thirst growing as you approach… I know that I get that way each time I approach, and I can assure you that the water is of the purest quality. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I went right up and started drinking as soon as I saw the fountain…

I did figure out that the water was fresh, in part, because I walked around to the back of the fountain and discovered it is cracked… well, not really cracked… just super porous, where water is always dripping or seeping out onto the floor… its not pooling or spreading out, but rather, it seems to be seeping back into the base of the rock, and down into the earth below.

I am still deeply in study over CHURCH, but I felt I should update you on the fountain at least… whether I am in the lobby or not, now that you know it is here, please feel free to enjoy it…

If you were curious, I am currently in the book of Luke. What a harvest of information to gather and put into the pantries of my soul. I will keep you posted on where it leads me next…

Tik Tok…

If you must know, I tried to go to sleep at 9 but it was a no go… fell asleep around midnight. Then I woke around 2 a.m. and lay there in pain, due to my arm bothering me lately. I fell back asleep around 3 or 4… not exactly sure… and then I got up about 7 this morning.

What time do you go to bed and wake up currently?

Investigating Truths…

Just a Bag Cont’d

**Before you is a table, resting beneath a lamppost!  The soft glow cast from the lantern, falls upon a note, held in place by a small Ivory figurine.   Pulling the note from beneath the small object, your eyes are drawn to the message…

Welcome… all of you who are here to lend your aid…  I believe we are ready to begin this great adventure!  I have given you as much preparation as I can from here.  The rest will be up to you.  Since I already have my bag, and have no need to pack it, I have gone down the path ahead to prepare our first meeting place.  I will await your arrival, as I am sure you will need a few days to prepare your bag.  Please do not be alarmed by my absence, and trust that I will be waiting for you just inside the forest, down this path.  Look for me where the path crosses the river, just beyond this valley…

*Tip 1*  I actually got out my colored pencils and drew a picture of my bag.  I am a visual learner, so I reinforced the picture in my mind by the act of doing (drawing it).  I would suggest you try this as well, but only a suggestion.

*Tip2*  Ask questions!  Help me help you have fun with this!  Treat this like your mental vacation, provided to you by Imaginary Air!

*Tip3*  If this is a vacation, Relax!  I will do all the mental driving, but I really do wish for you to ask me questions, as they will be shaping the direction our adventure takes!

*Tip4*  I recommend you get to know each other before departing, to ensure you feel a growing sense of TEAM, so to speak.  Being aware of who wishes to help, and where, is vital in building a solid foundation to this endeavor!

I am sure that you are excited to depart, and you might be wondering why you are still milling about the lobby. All that I can tell you is that I was given 3 messages to gather all that are needed. It is not for me to question, but rather, to prepare you and trust in your patience… No one gets left behind, remember, we are only as fast as the slowest members…

What strategies do you use to increase comfort in your daily life?

Comfort you say….

LOLOL…

Ok, I am finished laughing at the thought of comfort…

Seriously, I only laughed at the thought of trying to make comfort out of the level of poverty we have come through and the continued clawing effort my husband puts in, ALONE, to try and pull us out of the pit that life’s circumstances put us in…

In truth, it has been the BEST horrible, exhausting, devastatingly painful journey EVER! At least for me, that is…the learning to let go of things I thought were so important, things I thought I HAD to have…

With those days far distant from the here and now, we are incredibly comfortable… you know why… because we spent so long and still do sometimes, having to choose between toilet paper or laundry quarters… that’s the real stuff of life. But it is not a complaint I want to leave anyone with… it is encouragement!

When things seem so incredibly impossible, that’s the place where God ALWAYS shows up… I have never gone even one day without some form of edible food. My husband and I live to the best of our ability, to appreciate each and everything we receive, and we care for it more so because we do not have the assurance that it can be easily replaced… ergo our refrigerator debacle.

And let me tell you, when you go without your creamer for a week and have to smile through black coffee, for me this is borderline criminal behavior… When that creamy French Vanilla swirls magically as you pour it in, you are as excited as a kid at the gate to Disneyland.

My point is this… if we try too hard to focus on what will make us more comfortable, we waste a lot of beautiful opportunities to appreciate the One who provides everything that we enjoy. We are also more likely to argue with Him when we are expected to share with others in need.

I highly doubt that even I would feel brave enough to ask this gentleman what strategies he uses to increase his comfort…

Maybe I should just guess and show up with a few things that might help…

**P.S. Let’s leave these cookies here just in case there is anyone out there who reads this post and really could use a virtual hug (cookie)…

That Fast…

So… my husband nearly blew himself up several days ago… ya, no time for a back up plan kind of accident…

Remember our refrigerator went out and we had to get a new replacement… no worries… Visanni is OK! Long story short, while disconnecting from the old lines, he inadvertently punctured the Freon tank and it exploded in his face. By the grace of God alone, he is ok, other than smelling ammonia everywhere he goes. The part that rattled him the most was how fast it happened. He had no time to “adjust” to the situation… it was instant!!! That was how fast it happened and then it was done! Sometimes, there just are no contingency plans; no chance for a do over, or an undo button, if you will.

Aside from being eternally grateful that my husband is fine and God had him covered, I was left with a fresh reminder how very precious life is, and that there are NO guarantees. It can be so easy to become complacent or lazy regarding the time we are given, and what we do with it. Oddly enough, instead of feeling panicked that I had some list of unfinished good deeds, I felt no fear at all.

Point in fact, I felt encouraged to press on down the path set before me, knowing that I have full opportunity to do good every single day until I am called home. I have assurance of my future, no matter how much time is left in the here and now. I am choosing to not be shortsighted… I wanna go big till I go home!

I have also learned from this experience, that I do not kiss my husband nearly enough every day, and now I have made it my mission to pester him all the time with kisses, and more I love you’s, just to make sure he don’t fergit!!!

In Good Hands…

What are you most excited about for the future?

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future..." Jeremiah 29:11

My excitement comes from not having to figure this ole world out myself. The One who came before me, has prepared the way home for me… I need only look up and follow the path… whew!

I am excited because of each and every other soul that stops into this virtual lobby of mine. My future, until I get home, is here in this lobby with you sweet fellow journeyers… sharing love, encouragement, and hope. You might not think this to be a big deal, but for me it’s very important. If I am a part of the body of Christ, and my gifts are writing, and being empathetic to those who I encounter each day, well I guess you all are my church, and this lobby is where I serve God… by serving you… the only way I can… with love…

If you are ever in need of someone to just love you for YOU… please stop by for a chat or a read from my silly stories, and stay as long as you like… the door is always open, and I am only a whisper away…

No I am not a stalker, maybe just a shut in that talks way too much to squirrels… but my heart is as true as you will ever find… because it is not actually mine… I gave it to God and He upgraded it!

Sorry, that dog ate your cookies leg… just dry off the sticky part and I think it should still be ok…

Do You Remember…

I once accidentally stuck a straw up my nose while batting my eyelashes at some guy… I’m not kidding! I was like 14 and I was sitting on a stool in a restaurant, trying to impress some guy across the room, by looking at him with my eyes as I leaned down to take drink from my glass… that’s what happens when we try doing something without looking first…

The straw did not find my delicately glossed lips… no no… it went directly up my left nostril, which caused me to jerk involuntarily, which poked me again…

Needless to say, he cracked up at the sight, while I spilled my pop all over my lap, while my right eye was tearing so badly, that I had mascara running down my cheek (I discovered this when I went to wash up)…

Look before you leap ladies…
